One more thing I used to love to go to that I have no desire to ever attend again. Used to be cool and more hippies and people just hanging out listening to music. Now you can't sneak in any alcohol, they restrict what you can do, and pickpocketing is rampant. I remember 10 years ago at ACL I lost my phone and someone found it and called my wife in my address book and got it back to me. They also changed the types of music to be a lot more EDM and Rap heavy which draws a different crowd even though they have George Strait this year.

Now they are doing just weird crap like this.

Got a lot better things I can drop that kind of cash on.

ACL has jumped the shark. I went the first 10 years, saw some great performances, discovered my new favorite bands on the smaller stages, and have countless memories out of my mind with good friends. Now you couldn't pay me to go.

The two headliners.

Worth the $300 minimum ticket. Especially if it is all muddy and steamy hot! What a place to be!

Let's be fair. It's ACL. It has been, and always will be, crap.

2018 was my last ACL.
I made it every year from 2007 through 2018, and loved it, but I'm pretty much finished.

Lineup this year looks pretty awful.

Aquafest, five stages every night, and each night was dedicated to a different cultural group.

Skipper pins for the win.

In 2005 I saw the following bands at ACL:

Black Crowes
The Killers
The Allman Brothers
Oasis
Jet
The Black Keys
Steve Earle
Robert Earl Keen

This could never be considered crap.

The s*&t they are trotting out this year is however most definitely crap unless you like the hip/hop stuff and what passes for pop these days.
(No disrespect to George & Stevie Nicks, but I've seen them before so not interested)

While I think he's absolutely great and listen to his stuff regularly, George Straight concerts are boring AF.

I have gone twice but never all 3 days. In 2018, I went on Saturday of Weekend Two, and in 2019, I went on Saturday of Weekend One. This year, I will be going Sunday afternoon.

LOL. I can honestly say I'm sure I ate some but have absolutely no memory of doing so. Austin in the late 70s and early 80s was a fun place to be a late teen early 20s person. Open cans, tip your beer to the cops and they would smile back, weed was like a parking ticket, assuming you were ever even hassled about it by LEO.

Aaaannnd then there was Le Bare. Male strip joint (pre Chippendales). Amateur night was a hoot. Was in the audience when a good friend of mine from A&M was one of the contestants. Not sure who was more embarrassed, him or me.
