Did the CDC change the definition of "vaccine"?

This is weird.

Quote:

Here's the "Definition of Terms" for Immunization as captured on August 26, 2021. I've highlighted the key points.
Quote:

Immunity: Protection from an infectious disease. If you are immune to a disease, you can be exposed to it without becoming infected.
Vaccine: A product that stimulates a person's immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease. Vaccines are usually administered through needle injections, but can also be administered by mouth or sprayed into the nose.
Vaccination: The act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity to a specific disease.
Immunization: A process by which a person becomes protected against a disease through vaccination. This term is often used interchangeably with vaccination or inoculation.

Quote:

Now, here's the "Definition of Terms" for Immunization now, which was updated on September 1, 2021, with changes highlighted.

Immunity: Protection from an infectious disease. If you are immune to a disease, you can be exposed to it without becoming infected.
Vaccine: A preparation that is used to stimulate the body's immune response against diseases. Vaccines are usually administered through needle injections, but some can be administered by mouth or sprayed into the nose.
Vaccination: The act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce protection from a specific disease.
Immunization: A process by which a person becomes protected against a disease through vaccination. This term is often used interchangeably with vaccination or inoculation.

Quote:

So, up until last week, a vaccine went from being something that "produces immunity to a specific disease" to something that merely "stimulates the body's immune response against diseases," and a vaccination no longer "produces immunity" to a disease, just "protection" from a disease.

Does anyone else find this disturbing? Why did the CDC suddenly redefine "vaccine" and "vaccination" to make them sound similar to your basic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug or a prescription drug you have to keep taking regularly?

Why am I not surprised. One of the biggest vax pushers supports moving the goalposts even though you said that the vaccine was NEVER supposed to prevent infection.

This is why people don't trust what they are are being fed. Just call the vaccine a pre-infection therapeutic and stop requiring people to take it and more people would probably sign up for it.

I have always heard it as a "flu shot" effective against a particular strain of flu they are predicting will be prevalent that flu season.

Frankly, every time I have had the flu shot, it has made me sick for a few days.

It's a COVID vaccine. It's not a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. Whatever that was ever suppose to mean.

Does it keep you from getting sick? Nope. Does it keep you from spreading it after you get sick? Nope. Does it make you less sick? Probably.

I never claimed it was 100% effective. The reason we want everyone to take it is to reach herd immunity, to protect those that it doesn't work for.

Frankly what has always been confusing to me was why the need for two shots set a specific time period between each one? What is the medical reason for that?
Cassius

now that I think about it...

I think they changed it because the previous definition could be used as a defense for the unvaxxed. If it protects you, the person getting vaxxed, which is explicitly stated in the first definition, then why do I need it? This helps with their push to force everyone to get vaxxed.

So by your definition, the technology of vaccines is getting weaker?

So, one vaccine comes along and we change the entire definition that has stood for, what, a hundred years? And that old definition still applies to multiple vaccines that did exactly how it was defined.

It would have been more accurate to just classify the COVID "vaccine" for what it really is - a therapeutic. Or, create a new class of treatment that is a vaccine + therapeutic hybrid. Depending on your genetic makeup or luck, it will prevent infection and/or lessen symptoms.

Good Lord, COVIDIANS will cover for idiocy wherever it rears its head.

This isn't new, remember? The mRNA tech "has been around for years!".

A vaccine conveys immunity. The TamiFru shot doesn't, it's little more than a therapeutic. So they changed the meaning of the word to match their whims, like good little leftists and their continues venture towards newspeak.

It is not a "vaccine" at all, not in the true medical sense, that is. It was misnamed from the get-go.

So instead of calling it a "therapeutic" they change the definition, I guess. And then they wonder why people are confused.

The original could be read as a definitive product that a) produces immunity that will b) protect a person from the disease. The updated definition more clearly states that the product or "preparation" is designed to stimulate the body's immune response. Whether immunity is achieved isn't guaranteed. We all know that to be the case, so I think the definition is reasonable. How many people get the flu shot and still get the flu?

Yes, timing is suspect and the fact they had to modify the definition to be more accurate NOW just further highlights how incompetent the CDC is as an organization.

I don't think the new or old really dipped into the community aspect too much.

A therapeutic is one that is given post infection at the onset or duration of disease. No covid vaccine is used for this, nor is it acknowledged by anyone.

Or a therapeutic can be administered as a prophylactic as well. I had a kidney condition for many years that required me to take antibiotics daily to prevent UTIs from causing damage to my kidneys.
