The Germans can't project air power into the region. The US can send aircraft from carriers to hit anywhere in Afghanistan. The Britsh may have that capability with their new carrier, but I doubt that it could be in position in time to do so.

The only other ones that can do so will be in no hurry to help the western allies.

2- caused the airport to close. Further locking out the American and allies trying to get in. Sets them up for easier collection later for ransom.

3- killed a couple of US servicemen. Always a bonus for the enemy.
