as somebody who works in an "adjacent to porn" industry, usually banks don't care about the legit pornography itself, it's just that there's a lot of malware, child porn, sex trafficking, and illegal activities involved on a lot of those sites that they steer clear of and crack down on if they find it.

pornhub actually had a big sweeping change the last couple of years where they removed millions of videos from non verified sources because they didn't want to get hit with any CP or trafficking charges.



*"adjacent to porn" actually means i work in technology that blocks porn. i've had a few interesting conversations with people on the other side. one time i got on a flight to Orlando to go install said porn blocker in Florida somewhere and happened to sit next to a guy who was on the financial side of the porn industry. you could tell he probably never would have brought up what he did if not for an ironic seat placement. As bad as I judge pornography as a Christian and father, his attitude regarding the finances and trying to keep it clean of the worse elements were admirable.

There will be and is exploitation on OF.

The difference is OF creates a market where the barriers to entry for women are dramatically decreased vs traditional porn where they are just paid as actresses. On OF they're able to monetize themselves directly. In theory, all they need is a phone and they're paid directly by OF, no licensing is required.

Short of trampling constitutional rights, it's the best way to 'clean up' one of the most traditionally dirty industries in the world.

I have two schools of thought on it.

A) It gives women complete autonomy over their own sexualization. They're not being forced into anything they don't want to do and the only person profiting off of them is only fans which is just providing them a platform.

B) who's to know whether or not a woman/young girl is actually running their own account and not being coerced off camera?

I don't know enough about OF's processes to say that couldn't be the case.

Would be somewhat difficult as OF basically gives people a platform to make their own personal porn site. I could see someone forcing women to produce content, but that kind of exploitation is going to happen regardless through sex trafficking and prostitution.

And tobacco. Just this week I had a client have his card processing halted without warning until they could review his online selling activity. Turns out they know he wasn't doing that because they had four years of activity showing 100% card present sales yet it happened and again without warning. "We're suspending your deposits until you give us information about online sales we know aren't happening."

Using the banks to negatively impact undesirable businesses is like banning ammunition. When you don't have the public support to ban guns/porn you pressure them in other ways. Why? Because that's what tyrants do.
A fearful society is a compliant society. That's why Democrats and criminals prefer their victims to be unarmed. Gun Control is not about guns, it's about control.
