https://microdose.buzz/news/new-hopkins-study-finds-psilocybin-4x-more-effective-than-ssri/

The mental health industry is ~$240B by 2026. SSRIs are around a $15B industry alone.

Thats a lot of abstraction of labor being spent for unending treatments/therapies.

Don't worry, Big Pharma will find a way to patent a GMO version of psilocybin and ensure the natural versions are still highly illegal for use; for your own good of course.

Big pharma can't make money off of mushrooms.

No offense. My gut instinct says this is true, but I don't know if microdose.com is the most indepent resource.

ETA: John Hopkins did the actually study but the sample size is almost uselessly small. I hope that this study opens the door to bigger research.

Add butter, sear mushrooms in a saucepan then pour over practically any food to make 4x better

More important is how to integrate properly and what a guided experience should/could encompass.

Love it. Tons of ways to treat depression other than pumping a ****load of serotonin into your brain. It's effective for some people, but the Lexapro/Celexa/Zoloft carousel isn't effective for the majority.

Additionally, while the brain is already complicated enough on its own, there is a behavioral aspect that is necessary to address to see results, which is why therapy is so important.

All that to say there are so many factors involved, it makes sense to try other things out. I could write a soliloquy on my thoughts of different medications, dosages, interactions, etc., so shoot me a PM if you have any questions about treating depression/anxiety/ADHD (for you or your kid) overall. Been an ongoing process for over half a decade and more than willing to help.

Not surprising.

Guess we'll go from SSRIs being way over prescribed to a bunch of people that said they feel sad tripping if this gains any traction. (somewhat sarcastic)

The use of Ketamine for off label treatment of depression has been groundbreaking IMO. Ketamine obviously has a head start over psilocybin due to it being only a schedule 3 drug, legal with fewer restrictions.

But when and if the red tape is ever removed from psilocybin, it will run circles around ketamine. The studies of psilocybin's effect on depression are profound.

Throw some fresh thyme in before you sear and it will change your life.

To be fair, only a portion of the profession advocated for those archaic treatments even before they knew better.

Shock therapy is actually effective. Pretty much the entire reason it was banned is because of "One Flew Over The ****oos Nest". It got lumped in with all the other crazy abuses that were going on in mental institutions at the time. But I've heard several different scientists and studies in the last few years saying if they had a choice between Electro-shock therapy and taking anti-depressants, they would much rather go with the former since it's more effective with better side effects

I agree with shock therapy as well. Got a bad rap for an exceptional therapy.

When Sid was at A&M, he and his buds picked them off of cow pies in a pasture just south of college station. Then very carefully identified them with a field guide. Tbh it's not a very good trip. Lots of nausea. Do not recommend

Electroconvulsive therapy is still used in cases of severe depression unresponsive to medication. It hasn't been banned.

Sorry, is this sarcasm or genuine? If sarcasm, I think a severely depressed person going from taking anti depressants daily to taking a dose of shrooms every 10 days would be an improvement, no?

Sid should try some better mushrooms so he can see what it is REALLY like.

There's a lot more best practices around than when Sid was shroom hunting without much guidance. Set and setting are paramount to a successful experience. What and how much you eat before you trip [fasting is best], how you prep your mushrooms for consumption, and then dosage based on species/assumed psilocybin content [very rough estimation unless you're extracting the psilocybin].

My experiences using Lemon Tek have been positive, also eaten em straight dried. I'm about to experiemtn with capsules and microdosing with small amount of d8thc combined [starting thursday].

Back to your experience, sid, did you gain anything from it?what do you recall happening? Was it nausea that made it a negative experience?

More like mushroom therapy once every 6-8 months if it is absolutely necessary, many times the depression doesn't return, as the core issues have been thoroughly explored and resolved in the default mode network [DMN]

We actually did it a few times. Had one classic 'bad trip'. Took the entire weekend to get my head straight

Back in that day the law hadn't caught up with the chemists. Mdma (ecstasy) was actually legal for a short time. I believe you could buy it at clubs and bars in Dallas. Ecstasy was a far better than trip and something I would consider doing again in a controlled, medical environment

Full disclosure: I haven't taken psychedelics since the 80's and I do not condone without a doc's recommendation.
