Expecting our first child here in October. OB recommended that wife and I get TDaP before baby arrives. Began researching pros & cons of this as well as vaccinations after birth.

General concern is side effects of each on health of mom and baby. CDC says nothing to worry aboutsome industry data says otherwise. Needless to say my general trust of govt entities is at an all-time low.

Am I letting my tinfoil hat cloud my judgement? Certainly not antivax, just checking considering you only get one chance to do things correctly.

Curious to get input from folks on here because, you know, TexAgs knows things.

Get TDaP. It's the pertussis they're worried about.

The pertussis efficacy of the Tdap vaccine is only 74%. I've been told here that anything less than 100% is not a "real vaccine". You will also need scary boosters. This board also told me that any "vaccine" needing boosters is lol stupid.

Where has anyone said a booster will be needed for covid "every" 6-8 months? And while not 12 months, the polio vaccine requires three shots in 18 months.

Sad that you can't see what is coming. It's all fine and good now that it is "free". What happens when it's not and cost 50, 100, or 500 every 6 months. Cool with the booster then?

As usual, the Covidians and those who are clearly here to carry the water for Pfizer and the FDA are trying to equate the vaccines which have been around for 30, 40, 50+ years with the experimental mRNA vaccines which have been around for roughly 1 year and less in widespread use.

Not being willing to bend the knee and take the needle is not the same as being "anti-vaxx" but keep up the lie all you want because we know you don't let the truth get in the way.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

The level of skepticism and downright antagonism is certainly, "anti-vaxx" and borderline conspiratorial paranoia. The Polio vaccine had many of the same questions and concerns
in the 1950's after Salk introduced his vaccine. There were lots of questions on efficacy, whether a booster was needed, safety, etc. Hell, they even GAVE Polio to 40,000 kids in the Cutter incident. It wasn't always around for 60 years, but people still lined up for it anyway when it was introduced and we eradicated Polio from the western hemisphere.

mRNA vaccines are new to market, but the science has been developed for 30 years. It's not like Pfizer and Moderna pulled it out of their ***es.

Where has anyone said a booster will be needed for covid "every" 6-8 months? And while not 12 months, the polio vaccine requires three shots in 18 months.
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said people will "likely" need a booster dose of a Covid-19 vaccine within 12 months of getting fully vaccinated. His comments were made public Thursday but were taped April 1.
Bourla said it's possible people will need to get vaccinated against the coronavirus annually.

"A likely scenario is that there will be likely a need for a third dose, somewhere between six and 12 months and then from there, there will be an annual revaccination, but all of that needs to be confirmed. And again, the variants will play a key role," he told CNBC's Bertha Coombs during an event with CVS Health.

I would take a vaccine for Polio to prevent death or other complications.

Covid gives flu like symptoms and has a .001% fatality rate in my age group. Therefore, I would prefer not to engage in the Chinese Buffett of vaccinations for new strains every year.

Do you see how the 2 statements are fundamentally different?

DTaP. 2, 4, 6, 15months, and 4 years, then TDaP at 7 years

Hep b. 3 doses in 6 months

Rotavirus. 2, 4, 6

I'm assume these vaccines were refined for their dosage as they administered them and gathered more real time data. That's an assumption as I am unable to find the origin of the dosage interval for these.

Congrats on the baby!

It's a deeply personal and tough question. I'll give you some advice as I have 3 young kiddos. Don't get every vaccine. People on this board say wtf trust the docs and do the standard schedule. Well the fact is there are much healthier nations out there who require 1/3 of what we "require" here.

Sad fact: you can't trust doctors where there is money to be made. Are they good people? Yes. Do they want what's best for your kids? Yes. Are they systemically lied to by corporations and gov't agencies? Absolutely.

So that means that parents like us are sadly on our own to make our decision. Any concern you have there won't be "any evidence of that" as they aren't looking. So I would say just as you do for any medicine, have an idea of the risks and try to minimize the schedule. Spread out your shots if possible. Anything that can be put off for a later time, do it. There are harmful toxins (they say there is "no evidence that these cause any significant side effects") so you want to let your infant child be able to excrete them. Which takes time. Try mineral waters like Fiji water (no idea if this truly works).

I treat every vaccine as a self inflicted autoimmune injury. Your kid needs time to heal. If you need more info, I'd be glad to give you some direction. Know that you do not need to vaccinate your kids in Texas.

With that said, I think there are good vaccines of course. The problem is that they are a cash cow so after the first few that came through, our capitalist Pharma industry needed to expand profits. I think it is good to vaccinate for tetanus, and pertussis. But I personally would put it off until 6-24 months.

Anecdotally, it's really hard to know what to do with your first kid. It's scary. Our first got many more than our 2nd and third. And mom had way more meds/vax during pregnancy. And our first is the only one who has had any serious health issues.

Best of luck, be disciplined, and your kids will grow up happy and healthy. The fact that you are even asking (fairly, I'd add) this question shows that your kid is in great hands. Gig 'em.

I don't understand this sentiment. I've dealt with multiple doctors either directly or through family who have made some egregious mistakes - one thought my grandmother's multiple falls and temporary loss of consciousness for weeks was simply her needing to be more careful and watch her balance.

She died of a stroke in the middle of the night 2 weeks later. Better judgment from the doctor maybe could have prevented it.

Doctors make mistakes and their suggestions, whatever it may be, do not consider all of the scientific studies out there, ever changing statistical data we ready daily, and most importantly - the massive amount of real life experiences shared on this forum. Regardless if you agree or disagree with them, it's useful to hear opinions to help you make the best decision possible instead of blindly following someone's suggestion.

I guarantee the strangers on this forum could make a much more informed decision on all things Covid vs. a dude who got a degree 3 decades ago and has yet to deal with a pandemic.

Maybe if you infuse enough lavender and eucalyptus into the elderberry you won't need the tdap and other vaxes?

Good rule of thumb is to listen to the obgyn's and pediatricians that have a vested interest in the mother and child's health.

Sure, but different opinions are good to have, and my overall point was to simply not view the doctor as infallible, as many people do. Common thing people do with psychiatrists.

Had 4 kids, did the TDap at the 2, 4, 6 interval & last b/f age 2, usually at 18 mo.

You should be more concerned w/the Rh +/- issues. Also, I'd ask your pediatrician about his/her thoughts on TDaP & the other vaccines.

Nah, just a rushed one that is brand new and that they just found out you'd need boosters for after not knowing that just 1-2 months ago. All for a virus with a very low fatality rate for vast majority of population.
