I would phrase it differently. What they (and possibly CMs even more) absolutely hate is being subjected to bad news on their TV/phone. Doesn't really matter if that bad news is still going on as long as it doesn't show up on their Twitter feed. It's one reason why they voted for Biden-to make the daily deluge go away. Kids are still in cages but it's no longer in the news.

I think a lot of the bleeding I was sensing was is this guy even alive and what is he going to say

it's a pretty low bar being a democrat but he even managed to not say something like mistakes were made

he did say graveyard of empires which was really really stupid

My wife said something similar to Cone (that she thought the speech was fine). So I asked why and she basically said she didn't disagree with what he saidthat we can't stay forever, etc. But then I went over what he didn't say and that is why he's getting the flak.

He leaned into it, which I guess was not expected, but all one has to do is look at what is actually going on and compare it to what the man himself said in prior press conferences and understand this situation is well beyond what he ever thought was possible.

He literally guaranteed the Taliban wouldn't take Kabul within 90 days.

His admin is telling the World the Taliban has to decide who they want to be in the world's community.

In his speech today he said they have to treat women right or here will be consequences, just not military ones.

In what world is saying hey, I stand by my decision, running back to camp David, and putting a lid on the rest of your day hitting back.
