Of all my friends, family members, and colleagues..hell even people that others tell me about...I've only known one to be hospitalized with covid (overweight, and she's back to the office like nothing ever happened).

Do I just happen to know a profoundly lucky or healthy group of people?

Did they have to bombard every flavor of media to remind people constantly that polio was a thing?

Why don't I know a single person with covid in the last 6 months?

Like seriously, what the **** am I missing? People are asking if I'm forcing my 1st grader to wear a mask. I'm like 'why? Covid doesn't seem to exist in the real world and he's more likely to die in a traffic accident on the way to school.'

Well, someone in my office tested positive today. It hasn't caused me to flip out or anything. I got the Fauci Ouchie back in May... not that stops the Kung Flu.

We are continuing on as normal.

This is what's so bizarre. While 350 children died of Covid over 4,000 died in car crashes and yet these covid fear mongers aren't calling for the end of all children riding in cars.

They are also alot more likely to commit suicide than die from covid. These fear mongers see no irony in the fact that them talking about how bad they imagine covid is in front of their children is actually more dangerous than covid itself.

I had a post typed out but realized it was incoherent and I was too lazy to rewrite. Long story short, I don't know anyone who has close friends or family who have died from this. I know tons who have gotten it and only two people who had a tough time and had to be hospitalized. I agree with your OP.

That being said, Pelayo of Texags (RIP) did die from it, so I would never claim that it's not serious for some.

I only directly know one person who got it- my sis in law. She was vaccinated. No serious symptoms.

Same.

Immediate family has been really lucky. No cases.

I first heard about a relative that had Covid about 1-week ago. We 18 months in. First case of covid within my family network including people I know from work.

Relative twice removed from me by marriage got covid real bad. On ventilator at present. ~35 M

So we 18 months in and I consider that my first 'case sighting' within the people I know.

I feel pretty lucky in that regard.

I consider myself very lucky to have avoided it thus far.

I could get covid tomorrow and be in the hospital. I get it.

I've taken all kinds of stupid risks. Very stupid and very unnecessary risks over the course of my life.

Covid doesn't even blip the radar.

No disrespect to covid though. we good.

you're lucky.

our associate pastor passed away. fairly young. 60.
my realtor passed away. really young. 40.
mother in laws best friends, husband and wife both passed away. 60's.
3 for sure hospitalized, all three made it home. 34, 66, and 50, although the 34 year said he was one day away from clocking in. the 66 year old, i dropped off a gift bag at the hospitals....stuck some nudie magazines in there. he appreciated it.
my assistants husband and daughter caught it. they're fine. couple at church, young. they caught it. they're fine.
I'm sure there are more, those just came to mind.

its just the law of numbers. i guess it just depends...some people won't know anyone, some will know quite a few.

I know of 3 people that have died of Covid. One was about 85 yo who was about 100lbs overweight and had diabetes and heart problems. Second was at least 50 yo and was at least 400lbs and was probably diabetic. The 3rd was late 50s or early 60s and probably 100lbs overweight and probably diabetic. The 2-3 people that I know that got significantly sick were in their late 50s or older, none went to the hospital and all fully recovered.

Most of my friends have had a bout with Covid. Most only felt sick for a few days or a week if that long. Many only felt run down or thought they were fighting off a cold. But, most of my friends are between 50-70 yo and are of average weight and are generally in fairly good condition and try to take care of themselves. Most of us have also mostly been out and about as much as possible over the last 16 months. Getting together when we could as things opened up or where the rules were ignored. So, we have all probably been exposed many times.

I do know of a 2nd cousin who had a very bad reaction to the vaccine and ended up in the hospital. They did have multiple health issues before they took the vax. I have heard of numerous other that have had bad reactions to the vax.

My opinion is that there is definitely a pattern here. If you are grossly over weight, out of shape, diabetic, eat junk food daily you are probably going to have a really rough time with this virus and possibly die. Otherwise you are probably fairly safe.

We should be telling everyone at the top of our lungs to lose weight, get in shape, get your sugar under control, cut out the junk food an soda, take you vitamins, specifically Vits C, D and Zinc. Why are we not doing that ? ? ?

Through social media I have known plenty of people who contracted it. If I looked at my immediate circle of friends it would probably be less than 10.

Obviously most weren't close personal friends or anything but people I went to HS with or their spouses, etc. The only two people I've known to pass away from it were over 60, maybe over 70.

These stories make me feel good about my weight and longevity prospects.
If you can make it to age 85 at 100 lbs overweight or age 50 at 400 lbs, that's a pretty good run.

This times eleventy-billion. This cold is not as bad as the fear mongers would have you believe but it very dangerous for our obese population. Why the **** is our Dear Media not talking about this. I really have no idea.

Known several that have gotten covid including myself and son. No one hospitalized or that severe. Yet know one person that got vaccine (dad of a surgeon) and resulted in some sort of autoimmune response and body to attack marrow and another healthy guy in late 20s died less than 2 weeks after vaccine. Take it for what it's worth

I know more people who have died of suicide since the shutdowns started than have died of Covid complications (1,0).

My boss was hospitalized for pneumonia for four days after seven days of fighting the virus. He was discharged after a course of remdesevir and is perfectly fine now.

My whole family got it a few weeks ago, and gave it to my elderly parents who are both overweight (especially my dad). My wife and I and my parents all took ivermectin and my boys took Tylenol. We have since all recovered.

I'd say I probably know close to a hundred who've had it. Immediate family included. 3 that I can recall were hospitalized, 1 of whom was touch and go for a while. Went out in January and finally back to work in mid June. One guy from passed but he was diabetic and a myriad of other issues. Wife caught it, was laid up for about a week then fine. Kids just felt kind of mopey and really whiney for 24 hours (all back in April). I got vaccinated. Stayed home with family during COVID and never got sick from it.. now the stomach flu that we all managed to catch during the Covid outbreak at home I wasn't lucky enough to miss. **** that was miserable. Mom, brother and SIL haven't had it, my mom for sure got the shot. Ironically me being allowed to work while family had covid, before I took off to stay with them is probably what infected 3 others I work besides. (1 of whom was hospitalized and then out for a month). The other 2 back in ten days

Make no mistake about it even if people know others that had bad outcomes with Covid the parents masking young children are not grounded in any data it's purely based on fear and emotion. Ask them why they never masked their children for the flu which is a greater risk to elementary kids. They won't like hearing how illogical they are and will throw out antecdotes and media fear porn but the data doesn't support it.

yeah, let's see, about those fear porn responses to the mask and ineffectiveness, these are the ones I've heard...

- "covid is not the flu"

- "there is more viral load with covid"

- "the covid virus is smaller than the flu, thus it gets through the mask"

- "the mask studies before covid are not valid since we have more data now"

- "you have to wear it to protect others from yourself, it's a one way check valve thing; the virus can get out, but not in"

- "if they don't work, why do they wear them in the operating room?"

I'm in the same boat. I know a few people that have had covid and were pretty much fine minus a few sniffles. Back to normal within days.

I don't know anyone that has had any serious complications because of covid. But it's funny, every "covid is so serious!" person I know knows someone who knows someone who had a memaw die. And when you point out that old people are high risk, they then also know someone that knows someone that was young and died or almost died.
