Hard to swallow pills: The Taliban had nothing to do with 9/11.
Oh yes they did. They continued to let AQ hide after it despite an ultimatum. That along rated their toppling on the spot.

Pakistan was harboring Bin Laden too when he was captured, we didn't go to war with themwe just went in a got him. As bad as the Taliban is, the alternative is worse and why would they give two $#!+s about helping us fight Al Qaeda?

Hell, the CIA did 10 times more to aid Al Qaeda in Syria and Norther Africa than the Taliban ever did.

Dude, politely STFU. You have no clue..seriously.

Keep lying to yourself.

Ok. I'll take your blabbering over a Lt. Col with 27 years of combat flight experience and 8 years working in counterterrorism. You're right, you know more than me..

Sorry he has 12 years of counterterrorism experience solely in the Middle East. His squadron was the first to strike after 11 September, but go on.

In other words not youdo a little research on your own. You might start with "Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan" by Scott Horton. He could chew up and spit out your Lt Col friend when it comes to info about American wars.

You're like one of those idiot, know it all college freshmen who think know they know all things, and especially more than their ignorant elders, because they took a class and a professor said things they like from the pulpit of academia or they read a book.

Oh yes.
All the old posts are gone now.
Back in the day when threads on this were posted there were some who defended the child rapists.
Especially prevalent on threads about Sgt. 1st Class Charles Martland.

Quote:

Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., sent a letter to Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, calling for the Pentagon to reverse what he said was its policy of ignoring sexual abuse of children in Afghanistan.

"It is bad enough if the Pentagon is telling our soldiers to ignore this type of barbaric and savage behavior, but it's even worse if we are punishing those who try to stop it," said Buchanan in the letter. "The only people who should be punished are the ones who created and condoned this immoral and savage code."LInk

Warning, graphic video:

I supported the war in Afghanistan. And I support the withdrawal. You knew this was coming but it still hurts to watch and to know more of it is to come. There is simply more tribalism than nationalism to hold that country together.

And we should take that as a warning to the post modern theories that are attempting to divide this country into various intersectional tribes and to tear down our social institutions.

Trying? It's already happened in this country. We just aren't there yet in terms of violence between our tribes since we haven't yet destroyed our police forces, but we're getting there.

Wars are messy and often have no stated out come... Just kick some ass for awhile and hope someone will give in and sign a treaty......Problem in the ME, is their is no establish GOV to give in. It is all 3 world tribal parties that has many leaders and they change quite often. Even the Russians pulled out after years of getting arse kicked.

If their leader is wacked, the next man up is in charge, they just replace him with another triable dude. Often wonder what happens with BL kids are old enough to fight. Clinton had the intel that BL was planning and he did not respond......

Just slightly smartass. He watches the bad guys and tracks things like communication, movements etc. He has been in the ME longer than you've been taking up time on the surface of the earth. Yah, I'd wager I know a lot more than him and you combined. Reading a book and watching 60 minutes and claiming you know more is laughable.

I'm assuming since you're using your brother's experiences instead of your own you've never been in the ME, which AFG is not part of by the way. I'm fairly confident you'd lose your little wager. But carry on....

You're right. They aren't included in any intelligence gathering etc. But you carry on. I never said I was in the ME dumbass. But knowing someone who has spent over 25+ years in the region, I'll take that versus you and afl "knowledge" any day of the week.

I don't want to keep piling on, but if your boy has been in AFG or the ME since 1996 he's doing something wrong.

Dude, you're more ignorant than I thought. He's been assigned to that area since 1990. Of course a few things happened after that but you probably weren't aware. You don't have to live in an area to work the area, but you knew that right? You're just an ignorant jackass, but carry on.

I'm just reading what you wrote..."spent 25+ years in the area." Is it ignorant to think you meant he "spent 25+ years in the area?"

Also, assuming that's accurate, he probably shouldn't be sharing his "intelligent gathering" information with his brother.

Bin Laden did though, and they sheltered him.

Still, I'm not convinced that occupying and "rebuilding" afghanistan for two decades was ever the right move.
