I received this note from a 3rd Gen Del Rioan who fishes Lake Amistad almost weekly.

FYI,
This came from a very good friend today, Thought you should know.

Hey bud read this I put it out to the OFT.

Ok here's the deal! Watch your back. I just got notified that a SA club member was in Burro today and got rammed by a Mexico fishing boat and told to get the F out, the driver didn't look like a fisherman. It got my attention because John and I was in little Zorro this morning and had one come up and circles, actually had to push him off of John's boat. Dude was not a fisherman, short, tee shirt and Mohawk hair cut and a little tattoo on his face. Tommy Shields had it happen today also, just didn't get as close. BP, PS and GW know about it. Im afraid all of the police actions on the highway has pushed them to the water. This isn't good!

Now it is dangerous to fish at Lake Amistad. Just Ducky.

Del Rio should not be the most dangerous city in Texas. It's citizens live in a militarized zone, losing freedom to navigate parts of lake Amistad, Cartels have increased their presence there. Most of all you have a Zombie president given the green light to come and crash the border.

This is JUST the beginning. All of those folks crashing the boarder are put on buses and shipped out of state to cities all over the US.

The only way to stop this is protest heavily, but individually at the local level. Jan 6 th was great but it would be more effective to peacefully protest in your local town/county/State. We learn a group of protestor will be labeled as white supremist and the government will prosecute.

Build a wall across the lake?

As I've said time and time again, if you want to greatly reduce illegal immigration, take away the benefits. No free schools. No free medicine. No tax credits. No tax rebates. No welfare.

If we make it difficult for illegal immigrants to come in via one method, they will just find another way. The only way to stop it is to take away the reason for coming here. Of course, that takes something a lot rarer in elected officials than just throwing money at the problem in hopes that something sticks -- it takes honesty and integrity and fiscal conservativism.

Good and all valid points. But I would add to what you state that the most vital thing that has to be done is hold Mexico', as a country and government, balls to the fire. The MexGov has -0- incentive to secure their side of the border and reign in all the crap that goes on there. They step and fetched for about a year, with a half assed effort that got pretty good results, when Trump threatened to impose tariffs on all Mexican exports. That scared the hell of the top levels of government and just their half assed effort made a huge difference in the numbers crossing and the mayhem abounding. They were scared that Trump was crazy enough to do it, so they acted.

All parties and US pols have given Mexico a free pass for way to long. Illegal immigration was once only another form of an export for Mexico, now with all the other foreigners coming through, it is a whole new revenue stream based on exploitation and corruption.

Most of the the dudes that get "seen" or that most people have contact with that work for the DTO or alien smuggling groups are doped up, addicted, dumb asses and also very young. Most of these guys couldn't manage a two burner taco stall on their own, but they get paid a ton of money (to them) and supplied drugs. Brains ain't their strong suit. They get put on "watch" or "guard" duty and do stupid crap and this is the result of that. The DTO staff, at the street level, is if anything horrid to deal with due to total drug addled stupidity. That is the scariest part of all of this.

The trafficking groups have lookouts and radio guys everywhere they are doing things, and these folks probably ran into some. I would guess illegal alien trafficking in that area and those were lookouts.

This isn't a new thing, and with all the action going on right now and US letting so many illegals in there is big bucks being made.

This is from almost 10 years ago. https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna39669630

It's a traffic route for human smuggling (mostly at night) AND for clever drug/ weapon smuggling efforts- given the specific products beings handled like fentanyl &/or high-caliber/ automatic weapons, even though both activities are relatively small in the overall smuggling game. MOST of what's going on is local Mexican gangs, who although undoubtedly work for the Cartel, aren't operating at the direction of the Cartel when it comes to their theft activities being conducted. Nevertheless, these acts are definitely on the rise since law enforcement's attention is directed elsewhere AND because of the ease of escape/ confusion over enforcement efforts on the lake (which is also why the smuggling efforts are so highly specialized there); HOWEVER, the gangs have been directed by the Cartel to discourage Anglo excursions into the smuggle routes along/ on the lake, since it's a strategic point for the Cartel, but transportation out of Del Rio is rather restricted, which is why other border towns take priority in the overall scheme.

I may have exaggerated when I said he wouldn't care about this border issue. He just seemed like a Will Hurd 2.0 to me and many other conservatives in my county(Medina went Reyes in the runoff). Tony siding with the dems on the January 6th commission vote is something Hurd, who endorsed Gonzalez, would have done. I hope he ends up being a good congressman, but Reyes felt like more of a true conservative that would not side with the dems on anything. You are right though. Republicans do eat their own. I think for good reason though. They are tired of RINO's. Tony does have good immigration views. I'll give him that.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

I think Gonzales has to straddle the center-left of the border with his conservative views in order to stay in office. He cannot be a firebrand conservative and get votes in Maverick, Val Verde, or western Bexar Counties. The demographics don't support it. Will Hurd tried to straddle that center-left to right divide using techno-speak. Hurd failed because at some point, voters to his left and right determined that Hurd no longer had their back.

Wrong, the district has gone R for 4 cycles in a row now, this district is getting more conservative as rural Hispanics are not voting as solidly blue as they did not long ago, look at Trump's numbers in the border counties in South Texas in 20202 as proof. A guy further to the right of Gonzales would have won in 2020 had it not been for Trump's endorsement.

As for the story on Amistad, I'm going to wait for a more reliable source before I believe it, not discounting the crisis at the border at all though.

I do believe you are right. Lots and lots of really decent, honest, and hard working folks in Mex. But the political oligarchy of the country insists on the continuation of a system of government that didn't work in the archaic past and is absolutely inept in the modern future.

Historically there is never revolution in countries or regions where those affected can immigrate, and that will be the case in Latin America as well. Why go to all the trouble of a possibly violent revolution when one can go to the land of free cheese and snap.

I think the point is that it's happening much more frequently lately. Sure, it's happened in the past, but not nearly as often when President Trump was in office. It makes sense given the chaotic situation currently in the area, thanks to Biden.

It happened with the same, if not more frequency when Obama was President.
The point is that while it may ticked up since last November, it's not a new development.
