NSABB recommended that such studies warranted additional scrutiny prior to being funded. NSABB further recommended a Department-level, multi-disciplinary review and ongoing Federal and institutional oversight for this category of research. The recommended policy guidance that OSTP is issuing today will implement this approach.

You got me. I didn't vote for this stuff either. Part of the leviathan that is big government. My $.02... i bet most elected officials have no clue about most things our govt does. The leg has relegated its authority to the bureaucracy and it's oversight to covering steroid use in baseball, and other trivial matters. Meanwhile scientist and bureaucrats go ape town on spending.
