Google: A small American flag and all gray letters in their logo.

Bing: A full screen sized splash of a photo of the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery.

Winner: Bing.

Linux- all worlds most powerful supercomputers use it as do most power developers, most web servers, And yes you can even surf the net with it and look at pictures. Seriously a million times better than windows

goduckgo- does what I need which is alot.,
brave- working great after a bumpy start

You dont need big tech.

What industry are you in where most web servers are unix? They're almost all windows from what I've seen, at least across fintech. And by "almost all" I mean I'm giving the benefit of the doubt. I just associate web servers with windows at this point.

70% use UNIX, with most of that being Linux.

Now maybe in house, on prem for SharePoint, etc. Those use IIS, but public servers, no.

Yep, I'm DuckDuckGo-ing it since that's superior to Google and Bing and seeing that it's about 70% for unix overall. Must just be the companies I've been with, but they were always windows.

Literally makes no difference to what I do but as they say, the more you know

yeah, he is almost definitely confusing in-house servers with web-servers.
We're probably getting to where we need to move this to the nerdery but when I say webservers I mean internet facing servers in the datacenters we owned, presenting the websites we served.

Bing has pretty mucg beat out Google on every holiday splash page since they started. Whomever it was that established the team culture within Bing, still had at least some modest amount of respect for what most Americans care about when it comes to our history and culture.

Their 9/11 splash pages have always been amazing as well.

I did not say unix. I said Linux and yes sir many are. Common web servers are Apache and Nginx commonly found on linux systems though there are open source windows versions. Microsoft-IIS is the common MS server sw its ranked 3rd.

The major point however is you dont have to use any of the big tech companies for much of your computing. Granted you cant totally escape them but you can cut it way back.

Getting rid of windows and its virus and inopportune updates was a great start back when Vista was released with the quality of a beta version. Never forgave MS for that. Never will.
