Funny, and even more so since they were doing it to each other. The lack of deadpan delivery took away from it. A Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd or Norm McDonald delivery would've killed it.

Exactly. When comedy becomes taboo it ruins all chance to be funny when a black guy "gives permission" to a white guy to tell a stereotype joke.

Jokes are not racist

Racism is based on oppression

Webster might have literally changed the definition to appease the mouth breathing left, but there is nothing wrong with jokes based on stereotypes of race, gender, religion, etc...

This is actually a ray of sunshine, to be honest,

They did what Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor did in Blazing Saddles...which did more for race relations and the erasure of stereotypes than all of the Angry Victim Studies Departments across the county.

I wish the delivery had been as good as theirs, though.

Overall, I don't think SNL has ever been funny. There were definitely some good skits back in the golden age of SNL, but even then you had to endure the garbage waiting for a gem.

I think it was done in the only way possible. Their main humor point was that they were reading what the other wrote. A re-direction that disarms the cancel culture reaction.

Yes. Comedians in the 'old days' could just make jokes like that directly and people would be able to see it as humor only. Today you have to dangle a shiny object to distract and present the same material.

Anyway. Thought it was funny.
