Trump will curb stomp DeSantis if challenged. He has a trail of neutered rivals behind him.
I am hopeful that DeSantis is the one that can stop him.
I honestly hope these guys don't go toe to toe. It would be bad for conservatives.

That said, I think that Trump could be better at kicking ass and taking names if he didn't have the presidency to worry about. Let me be the garbage man draining the swamp while DeSantis plays nice guy to the camera, and grin ****s the marxists on policy.
I think Trump is a complete loser on any ticket. There is not this mass of people out there that will suddenly change their collective minds. If there was a group like that on Nov 7 they were completely gone by Jan 6.

If the Republicans want to win in 2024 they need a guy like DeSantis. They will have a very difficult time winning with Trump on a ticket.
I don't want him on the ticket.

I want him in the cabinet. Or owning a media empire.

Yep. Not remotely close. Trump is too old. Sorry. DeSantis brings all of Trump's upside and none of the baggage.

I'm sure the entire nation is eagerly hoping for a Round 2 of an 82-year old Biden vs. 78-year old Trump. Not since Coming 2 America would there have been such a highly anticipated sequel.

Seriously, if an 82-year old Biden is running, I actually think Trump would be the easiest guy for Biden to beat. Trump has huge political baggage (Jan. 6th photos would be beaten like a drum daily in the media for months leading up to the election). Somebody like DeSantis would have a much better chance taking down somebody like Biden. A lot younger, could more easily play the 'turning a fresh page' angle, etc.

Long way to go, but DeSantis is the logical choice at this point. He is a more polished, articulate version of Trump but with the same fight and tenacity. Solid conservative without the baggage. He can also serve two terms if elected in 2024.

He's definitely a lot younger which is good. I like Trump but DeSantis is who I'd go with. Polished, yes, but I like his ideas and plans.

I'm pleasantly surprised that DeSantis is so heavily favored over Trump on this board. DeSantis is a common sense leader that we desperately need as our leader. America has strayed to far away from common sense. We have invented issues that don't exist that we must fix. DeSantis is no nonsense, get ***** done person. Trump was too in a lot of ways, but he was too abrasive. DeSantis just tells you how it is. He doesn't appease you or try to rile you up. He ain't got time for that nonsense. That is what this country needs. Do your job government! And don't rob the American people to do it.

I don't think you have DeSantis 2021 without Trump 2016.

Trump laid the blueprint on how to get the American vote.

DeSantis saw the blueprint, and is executing better.

I'm not going to dog on Trump, ever. He got the populist ball rolling.

But DeSantis is just Trump's policies and aggressiveness coming from a politician instead of a Jersey real estate mogul.

So, hats off to Trump.

I don't know anything about DeSantis outside of the last year. Maybe a Florida resident can expand on how awesome he is. I do agree with you that DeSantis does appear to be using Trumps playbook. It's like he sees the way to president and he is going for it. This gets me excited. I was not a Trump fan but did like things he did. I hope DeSantis takes the Trump roadmap and improves it. This country will do great things if so.

Maybe not. That's something Don.Jr , Eric, and Ivanka both might realize and have some leverage on helping to avoid? Melania may really be wanting some non political time by then too. It depends on what is going on by then --- what if Trump is running his entire own NBC by then or platform?
I think this is on the right path but would take it a step further.

If I were DeSantis I would be befriending Trump and getting him on his side. The path to me would be that they divide and conquer. Let Trump run wild and play bulldog while DeSantis is the candidate. The media won't be able to resist going after Trump but they will be punching air in the end while DeSantis shines. The sell to Trump is DeSantis agrees to support Don Jr as his successor as Florida Governor and maybe put Ivanka or other Eric in his Admin. I think the way to get Trump to step back if to let him do what he loves to do and know that he is helping his kids build a dynasty.

That's how you win for everybody.

desantis has the pedigree of a classic successful R candidate (Ivy League education, military experience, executive of a large state). if there's anything that i could see hampering him it's perception of authenticity. trump never had that problem among his supporters because he was so uncompromising, but desantis strikes me as more intelligent and calculated, and therefore more likely to make missteps that come off as obvious pandering (a problem that has kept people like Cruz from big success on the national stage).

Desantis is common sense.

Libs wanna defund the police, Desantis just gave them a bonus in the new state budget.

Libs wanna riot, Desantis approved anti-riot legislation in HB1.

Libs wanna shut down for covid, Desantis wants to stay open.

Libs want vax passports, Desantis wants freedom.

Edit: forgot to include Senate Bill 90 and election integrity measures.

Donald Trump Jr., Secretary of State. Or, at least, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

Ivanka probably wants to continue to run the family business, but who knows. She could be head of the SBA? Trade representative? Housing and urban development? Qualified for any of those roles.

Don as press secretary. Or at least, guest press secretary when DeSantis is feeling feisty.

Genius.

He's a guaranteed loser. Your vote will be worthless. Better voting in protest and writing in a candidate or seeking a 3rd party that you can support. Trump wasted so much of his good will with his actions from the election thru Jan 6. His pettiness and lack of leadership in that instance, no matter what you think of the validity of the election, is not what any rational person should want as president of the US, no matter who he's running against. And that doesn't mean go support the dem instead. You have more than 2 options.

He had an opportunity to fight back in a different manner and set himself better nationally beyond the election and he chose to pull all of his most childish and embarrassing levers instead. He's now relegated to hero worshippers and red-team republicans who will always vote for whoever the candidate is.

Using the tired 'better than so and so' as justification to cast a vote for decades is the type of lemming/ants marching bull**** they expect from us and what has led us to the disaster we find ourselves in where we can't field better candidates than Trump, Biden, Hillary, Kamala, etc.

And yes, I voted for Trump in 2020. The best thing he can do now is help flip congress in midterms and support a winning candidate in 2024. Though given that his own selfishness was largely responsible for ultimately losing the senate a few months ago, I won't hold my breath.

TRUMP !!!!!!

We already know what we will get if he's elected a second term:

  • 4 years of record unemployment among all demographics
  • 4 years of a great economy and increases in wealth, again, among all demographics
  • a secure border. finishing the wall
  • a more stable Middle East than what it is today ( it was pretty quiet over there in his first term )
  • the rest of the world paying, in Obama's favorite words, "their fair share" to NATO, WHO, etc
  • the only realistic chance we have with keeping ahead or pace w/ China
  • an end to Critical Race Theory and 1619 Project in you kid's schools
  • FOR ONCE A POLITICIAN THAT KEEPS THE PROMISES HE MAKES TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ONCE ELECTED TO OFFICE

I'm a fan of DeSantis and would like to see him as VP, thereby making the chances of the Executive Branch being in sane, capable hands for the next 12 years, starting in 2024. However, I have not seen him in DC, in the office yet.

I have seen Trump, and he did do all the above, and he DID keep his word/promises. I've never seen that last part about keeping your word before in my lifetime from any politician. It would be foolish to pass up on a man that has already proven himself in THE OFFICE TO WHICH YOU WISH TO ELECT HIM, a known quantity for an unknown one.

DeSantis will have his day. Now, we need Trump back. He's our best chance at preventing us from slipping into the abyss of globalism!

Go pound sand Liz!
