The FBI will never go away, that's a fool's errand.
What should be lobbied for in lieu of something as extreme and impossible as abolishing the FBI is instead for wholesale changes to be made from a certain level of management on up, including limited terms regardless of who is in the white house, swift and harsh criminal punishment for anything other than strict application of the duties (which would include partisanship) and actual enforcement of said punishment.
The single biggest problem with any of the alphabet soup organizations lies with the fact that neither of the political parties will actually do anything to curb corruption, and when corruption is found, neither of the parties will enforce any punishment of it. The system is too inbred, asking the DOJ to prosecute the FBI is like asking a brother to prosecute a brother - it isn't happening, not to any real degree anyway.
