What we are seeing now is just a continuation of the wall street protests.

At the time, i assumed it was all about Bush. It wasn't.

When I was a young Lieutenant, I was stationed at a Corp of Engineers Lab which was commanded by an Engineer officer but the section chiefs were civilians.

So my boss was a civilian which had also civilian DoD Principle Investigators (PI) doing different projects.

Well, my boss controlled his section by keeping the other PI's at each others throats, sowing discourse with made up rumors and half truths.

I did not know this until he tried it on me with the PI that I was assigned to. At the time, I was angry at the PI for I thought of him as a firend with a good working relationship.

One day, the PI did notice that I was standoffish toward him and finally called me at it. I told him what the section chief said. The PI told me that was a lie.

At that time, I figured out what the section chief was doing, control by discourse and division.

Even though I informed the PI as to what his boss and mine was doing with him and the other PI's, it just did not click for him.

I explained that when the section chief stated something about him that he has heard from another PI, he needed to go to that PI for an "explanation" or verification.

For some reason, none of them would do it and the infighting continued.
