For the vast majority, especially if liberal, it is simply a way to say non-whites. It's almost always purely political. I also think often times that it excludes middle eastern and brown asians.Dan Scott said:

It's a way to exclude Asians from the victim hierarchy.
I believe in all colors, yellow, black, brown, and normal.
We are their enemy. Why should we support them?

It is just another way to use skin pigmentation to divide the country.

Language is now entirely subjective. People of color really means black. Once "Brown" people realize that they are just being strung along and will be dumped when they have no more value, it will get really interesting.
