I wonder what it costs to put all bullet proof glass in a vehicle. Several officers have been shot recently inside their vehicle.
Kbtx did a story in this earlier this week. Said it could cost over 10k per vehicle.

I would rather spend money protecting the people who protect us, instead of supporting the large welfare bill for people who won't get off their butt to provide for themselves.
Are you going to put them in tanks because pistol and rifle rounds will cut right through the thin sheet metal of cars including the A/B pillars and doors. It just isn't practical.
It is very possible to up armor any vehicle. The only issue is the cost.
Not only is there the bullet proof glass, but the armor that is installed in the doors and other parts of the vehicle. It can be ballistic fiberglass, Kevlar, ballistic steel, ceramics, or a combination.
Armor/glass to defeat only pistol rounds costs much less than armor designed to defeat full size rifle rounds up to 30.06 armor piercing.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill
