I agree after ~60-70% are vaccinated there will be no need for a mask. (and I am a mask supporter).

The "variants" will decrease dramatically as the vaccinations increase (smaller infected populations thus less chance of mutations).

As of today, A&M is planning to require masks indoors in the Fall.

I'm hoping that changes.

Once the voluntary vaccinations are done, the push for forced vaccinations will pick up.

I think we are there now, basically. (in the San Antonio area) My husband looked on Monday and was able to find both a Moderna and J&J appt for this Friday. He canceled the Moderna after booking the J&J. If someone can look online and book an appt 4 days later we are at the point I was waiting for - anyone who wants a vaccine can get one with little wait time.

We need to be done, open, with no restrictions.

I do think sadly a lot of people either like them, or don't mind them to the point where they would wear it forever if their government said so with the justification of keeping flu numbers down. I mean, probably 50-60% of people. And that's scary. It's becoming more and more common, and accepted long term. I always said, the long we wore them, the longer it would be to take them off. For some, maybe never, at least for every flu season.

At this point, though, I really only care if my employer drops the mandate. That's literally it at this point. Once they are gone, for all intents and purposes, my life is 100% back to normal. If I have to wear one on a plane once or twice a year I fly? Oh well, f*** it.

Vaccines are like any manufactured product. Errors, defects, etc are compounded. I'm open to the non J&J vaccines but I'm not signing up until we are a ways down the road.

Many places in DFW are accepting same day registration and I've even seen some walk up places starting up.

Of course, there are still some people flailing about that they registered in January and havent heard back. I guess there's a Darwininian aspect to the vaccine.

Just insane. Really, truly insane at this point. Yes, I do hope that changes. It already should, because anyone who does the math can see that we should be able to have every single person in Texas over the age of 16 double dosed if they choose to. We can do 265k a day. By August 30th, that's 38 million shots. Just saying 19 million first doses, and 19 million 2nd doses. That's dipping into most of the children, let alone college students and teachers/professors. Obviously, not everyone will get one, but the point should be that anyone who can possible have wanted a shot, should be able to get one. This will actually be the case for first shots no later than the end of April, but especially by August.

In reality, no matter how hardcore covid you are/were, things SHOULD absolutely go 100% back to normal once we get to the point where anyone who wanted one can get one, but we all know for some reason or another, it won't.

If you don't want it, don't get it. But it goes well beyond this. It most certainly shouldn't be mandatory, nor should passports become a thing here in America, they have no place in a free country. (I believe they will for many countries so if you want to travel internationally you might have to reconsider)

For example, over 100,000,000 people, even 99.3% to 99.7% can add up to 300,000 to 700,000 deaths. If those same 100,000,000 million got the shot, I guarantee you the deaths drop dramatically from 300-700k. Maybe 0 from covid or the vaccine itself, but at worst something like 15k to 35k deaths. This makes it a no brainer for a public health official to be pushing these. And for me, who isn't scared of either the virus or the vaccine, a no brainer to take it. This vaccine will prove to be safer and more effective than possibly any vaccine in human history. I am very, very confident in saying that. They are a go****** miracle from where I am sitting.

So as an individual, do what you want. It all works itself out because plenty are willing to get it. But, thinking as a public health official, the more shots, the lower the deaths. This isn't complicated. Of course they want the shots in those 100 million arms instead. not to mention, the long term damage of the virus is even higher than 0.3% to 0.7%, and almost assuredly higher than anything the vaccine can do to you.

You know, you can hate lockdowns. Hate the masks. Hate the way the world has acted and our world leaders trying to play god over a virus. But you don't have to go 100% all in on something. You can do all your research and easily see why getting the majority of the population vaccinated is a good thing overall, despite hating most of the rest of what is going on.

Or, you could take your chances without it and worst case (unless your immune system is shot) you take Ivermectin and feel better in 48 hours.

The data. Vaccines in the past, particularly mRNA, have shown their negative side effects long before the data we have available suggests that they are not. There is, logically speaking, far less in the vaccine that can hurt you than covid itself, even for a young/healthy person.

These vaccine has been under more scrutiny, time, manhours, etc., than many in the past. Even if the timeline isn't as long as some others just because those others didn't need EAU. One is also very likely to be FDA approved soon. Because there's really no reason it shouldn't be

And they are absolutely vaccines, and not experimental gene therapy.
