This is how the Chinese government keeps their population in their control. It's BS and obvious to some. Crazy how many people eat this stuff up.

Suicides in the U.S. decreased in 2020, according to preliminary data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Why it matters: Critics of lockdowns and other coronavirus-prevention efforts have suggested throughout the pandemic that those measures would drive the suicide rate higher. But that hasn't happened.
Quote:

By the numbers: From 2019 to 2020, deaths by suicide declined by 5.6%, from 47,511 to 44,834, per the CDC. It was the third consecutive year of decline.

It links to this JAMA article as its source: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2778234

Which contains this table:

Try as I might, I haven't been able to find any figures on CDC's website for suicide in 2020 and can't source that table at all.

Here is the available provisional mortality report for 2020: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7014e1.htm

It does contain this table, which if accurate would mean suicide was less than ~50,000 like the other articles claim:

I, personally, find this pretty shocking and suspicious considering the numerous reports of suicide hotlines ringing off the hook, the CDC report saying 25% of young adults had seriously considered suicide, etc. Suicide information is usually not available for a couple of years, so maybe that's at play here?

It simply defies logic that the suicide rate actually decreased during lockdowns and isolation. Of course it would be a good thing if that actually happened, it just seems really illogical.

Opponents of COVID measures made erroneous assumptions. Pretty cut and dried.

Biden old us today suicide would decrease by 50% if we proactively disallowed guns. He's friggin genius.

Having direct experience with someone who took their own life, the gun was not the problem. Uncontrollable depression was.

And no was you can convince me that all other indicators of depression and other mental illnesses are up except suicide. And gun sales are way up.

Clearly you ignored the article I bumped the thread with that shows suicide becoming the leading cause of death among youth. It's possible that was isolated only at Cooks Children's in Fort Worth, but that would be a pretty obtuse assumption to make.

Whether through inaccurate data, faulty assumptions, unreliable statistical modeling or out right lying the deterioration of public trust in government, science and news media is horrendous.
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”
