On the flip side I've watched more nhl than ever before

Before this I was already down to only watching a little NFL (some Cowboys games, some Chiefs games, mostly just the FF stuff) and a little MLB (much less than I used to).

Now I'm pretty much done altogether. I will attend the occasional Rangers game when a friend has an extra ticket to spare, but that will be the limit of my engagement with professional sports.

I'll still watch Tech football and basketball somewhat because it's hard to let go. But even the NCAA sports are losing my attention more and more.

I don't even know where many of the sports channels are now that we've switched to Spectrum.

it's almost as if "shut up and dribble" was salient advice.

We've been watching every Stars game even though they've sucked.
Still better than watching an SJW filled sporting event. We watched 4 minutes of the superbowl before turning that **** off.

Didn't watch a single play of any sport in 2020. That trend will continue for me until they drop the woke $h!+.

I did not watch an NFL game last season.

Literally for the first time in 45+ years.

Count me in.
NFL died when Kancernick took a knee and it is only worse since then.
NBA was never a thing for me. (Before maybe if the Rockets were in the playoffs, now truly and totally IDGAF)
MLB also not a big deal. (Again if the Astros with in the playoffs I would watch, but barely care anymore.)
College Football was Aggie games only with us watching only 4th quarters of 2 CBS games and the whole bowl game during this last season.
My weekends are pretty much wide open. I just don't have time for all of their BS.

Every time you see this leftist bull**** displayed, cut them off. Don't spend any money on pro sports, leftist movies, leftist musicians, leftist corporations... I wouldn't work for a leftist or hire one either. I wouldn't knowingly hire a leftist vendor at work. Don't pay for your kids to attend leftist colleges.

Most of the time, there is a perfectly good non-woke alternative (I admit its hard not to use Amazon though).

For decades, I watched a ton of pro and college sports. But they have gotten so political that I just dont care that much any more. If I want to watch, I will. But I dont plan my days around it. I do watch golf and tennis because they are more individual sports and I have a couple players that I like to watch. The pro team sports have kinda been able to get away with their agendas because of limited fans in the stands. But wait till things open up and fans dont return in droves. Then those that do are going to let their frustrations out on the players and officials. YouTube the speech by the Australian official following the Australian tennis open tournament. She was roundly booed. Teams signing players to contracts based on past revenue projections are going to be in a world of hurt.
But for me, I still plan around Aggie sports, but if they get too political, I'm gone from that as well. I now play more golf.

If viewership goes down, ad revenue goes down.

I did watch the Superbowl, but that was it as far as NFL this past season. I'm still watching NCAA football. I expect eventually that will go really woke and they'll probably start paying players and kill it too.

That's what I used to believe. However viewership has gone done for many years now but advertising dollars, and thus the tv contracts that are awarded to the NFL, have sky-rocketed.

The advertisers must be using different metrics to determine what constitutes a successful ad campaign other than Nielsen TV ratings.

I normally turn on Sling for the football season. Not last year. I know my couple hundred bucks over a third of the year doesn't mean much, but when if ten thousand households stop taking their NFL package, or stop doing fantasy, or decline to turn on their ESPiN stream option... the losses will add up.

NFL salary cap went down this year.

Keep hurting them where they actually care and this will all go away.

Americans have recently been stretched thin for entertainment dollar. Plus times change. Too much sports. Houston folks quit walking up on a pretty afternoon to watch Rice play. Plus product disintegrated and no SWC foes to fill seats They now have Saturday soccer, can watch ten games on tv for free- why go to games? We went to CS during game last year and there had been to be thousands watching game and eating and visiting at that place up from North Gate- don't know if it was because of COVID- but I imagine become a choice for students.

other than a few of Manziel's NFL games and some superbowls (more of a social gathering than giving a crap about the game), I haven't watched professional sports in over 15 years. I've got better things to spend my time on.

So the real thing is to find a way to punish the advertisers more directly in the sales pocketbook. Make clear the "not watching" is due to them, not the quality of the play.

But that brings up the other factor that certainly plays a role ----- in addition to the major sports groups going so woke in 2020, for example, it hit in specific cases even stronger - both the Cowboys and Rangers performed epically bad. In other words, incredibly enough, when Covid should have made sports on TV an eager go-to, they unbelievably piled on Democrat sjw propaganda, and feminized man-hating at that on their product, while at the same time giving BAD play and product. Its the most breathtaking case of tone-deaf have seen. Its created entire blocks of now "meh" fans because they were forced to do without it long enough that like an addiction, it sort of "went away" the interest. Look at the posts on this board and they are far from exceptional.

With both teams seeming to have dumped sjw posturing, and possibly might play better, it might be different later this year. We will see if interest goes back up. Certainly the sports radio rants remain entertaining when they avoid national politics as vs inside sniping about the drafts.

I kept forgiving the NBA until Mark Cuban announced he would no longer play the national anthem at Mavs games.

That was it for me. Cuban's message to me: "I really don't care what is important to you."
