The body cam footage seems damning for the prosecution. For those that know more than me, why are they showing it?

Did the witness say Floyd was foaming at the mouth while he was still asking for his momma?

The drugs are shutting him down way before the knee could do anything.

They know it is coming in regardless. IMO they are using sympathetic witnesses to introduce it to blunt the impact.

Appears to me that Floyd peed while he was still talking. It was not a postmortem evacuation as the firefighter believed.

That's what I heard, too.

This lady sounds like Elle Woods when she first starts trying to present her case. She's terrible.

I'm not sure those last two videos showed a man with a depraved mind.

Unless this guy has prior statements that directly impeach his testimony today, I'd pass on cross or do a very short one focused only his interaction with Chauvin. Annnd Nelson passes.

20 minute break so counsels can confer to "streamline the next witnesses."

twenty minute break. counsel will confer to streamline. Meaning they will stipulate to other videos or documents coming in without foundational witnesses, most likely.

Probably the most sensible witness the state has presented so far.

For those who haven't followed..... if he was having an overdose, why wasn't aid administered?

All 400, hopefully. For the love of God.

I regret my decisions so hard right now.

Great question but irrelevant to murder or aggravated assault chargers.

Has to be a bang worth the buck. There just weren't many avenues for that with this witness.

But key to manslaughter, imo.

They called EMS code 3 meaning lights and sirens, get here now! Both fire and EMS responded to the call but dispatch didn't give them the correct address and there was a delay.

FTR: The dispatcher witness and printout of the 911 call from Cup Foods that started the encounter showed squad 330 made the Code 3 call. That Chauvin's squad car. 320 was Lane and Kueng.

ETA: Same printout advised first responders that suspect was on the ground being restrained, again according to the manual when the maximal restraint technique (MRT) is employed. By the book.

I don't think that calling for an ambulance qualifies as "rendering aid."

The officers will have to answer for the moments between Floyd stopping breathing and the ambulance arriving.

Key maybe too harsh, but I think you're right that it definitely applies. The negligence aspect of the manslaughter charge will be determined at the speed of which they call the ambulance, IMHO.

Are the officers required to render aid when a suspect is resisting arrest? Are they supposed to wait until qualified medical personnel arrive on the scene and the situation is deemed under control?

Not if the police manual says otherwise.

And further even the firefighter said she would call 911 for further aid because she didn't have narcan pen nor a breathing bag on her and they don't do mouth to mouth anymore. All she would have been able to do is chest compressions which may or may not have had any effect as Floyd's lungs were filling with fluid..

Is the suspect resisting arrest when they're unconscious and not breathing?

THESE are the questions that should be getting asked and answered in this obnoxious f***ing trial.

I read that they first called for an ambulance very soon after taking him out of the car when they saw the shape he was in.

I agree with you Hawg. I wish they were covering these points. These are the nuances that matter, not "how did you feel?"

IMHO this will come down to 1) did Chauvin's knee directly contribute to Floyd's death, and 2) if Chauvin had removed his knee when the resisting was over, would Floyd be alive

At what point did the suspect become unconscious in relation to when medical personnel arrived on the scene? Could anything be done by the officers with tools they had available to resuscitate Mr. Floyd?

Floyd was thrashing around the back of the squad car hit his face on the plex partition. He was bleeding from the mouth and/or nose and that prompted the call. When he was taken to the ground, Chauvin increased that call to Code 3 because they were employing MRT. Again, per the manual.

"Per the manual"

What happens if everything they did was per the manual? Is that even a defense to criminal liability?
