That's hilarious. Anyone who decides that's political is ridiculous.

It was banned because there is an official cell provider of the Super Bowl, which T-Mobile isn't, and the official provider didn't like this commercial.

T-Mobile ran a similar commercial, it just wasn't this one. They ran the Gwen Stefanie, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine. Using the broken connection shtick as the precursor to Levine setting Blake and Gwen on date because Adam only got a few words Gwen was saying, etc etc.

It appears because the official "Telco" sponsor of the Superbowl was Verizon.
Now I'll grant you, TMobile ran the Gwen stephani, Blake drunk-ass commercial-- so that does make it look a bit weird-

Pretty sure that's not correct. T-Mobile had the same themed commercial with Blake Shelton. Verizon didn't have a monopoly.
T-Mobile claiming it was banned is part of the ad campaign. Brilliantly done.

Yeah, it was because the official sponsor didnt want it aired. It's like the world cup only allowing certain beer to be sold even if it's not in the stadium.

As mentioned, they ran a virtually identical one with Stefani and Shelton. This is just hype to get some airtime they didnt have to pay for

T-Mobile would not have tweeted out their commercial was banned if it really was. Pretty sure you just got sucked into the viral marketing campaign from T-Mobile to ensure even more people see this commercial then if they paid the few million to air it during the game.

If it was "banned", it is probably because the inclusion of Gronk, Brady, the implications surrounding the game, etc made it seem like it was officially related to the NFL and the Super Bowl in a way that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton dont.
