I've been a little put off by it as well, but I think it's mostly due to Trump as a surrogate for loving America.
Because say what you want about Trump, and I've said a lot of negative things myself, he is unabashedly pro-America.
And we are living in a culture where American ideals, history, and the notion of American exceptionalism, is increasingly under attack. Patriotism itself has become a loaded word, when it was considered purely virtuous even a decade ago.
Add in that the media and big tech are among the attackers, and Trump's battles against both cause people to view him as the people's champion, fighting against parties which should be apolitical but clearly aren't, and calling them on their hypocrisy. This endears him to people and causes them to look past the fact that much of his fighting is due to his own narcissism, petty feuds, and lack of discipline.
A lot of people also play up the "God Emperor Trump" stuff for effect when they don't actually believe it. It is the internet after all, and hyperbole reigns. Much of it is a little tongue in cheek.
Also, when you say "this board" as if it was a monolith, you have to understand that of the large number of people on this board and elsewhere who voted for Trump but don't love him, they have no appetite for dwelling on his flaws in a public forum because the mainstream and social media are already completely occupied with doing that.
So as much as I don't like or agree with the Demi-deification of Trump, I understand where it comes from for the most part.
