So I thought this was a funny joke, but I just read the article. It's actually mostly accurate. She says gov needs to pass laws limiting speech.

She is saying Jack Dorset can't do it on his private platform, but AOC can by force of gov.

Actually, the Left only knows about the Nazis because it's short, sweet, and culturally acceptable, not knowing that Nazi stands for "National Socialist German Workers Party".

They have no idea HOW Hitler came to power, what happened at the Reichstag, and thousands and thousands of other facts from 1933 to '45. Hell, they hardly know about Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. When we talk about freedom of speech, are we talking about the First Amendment or just the idea that anyone should be able to say whatever they want wherever they want?

If talking about the First Amendment, could someone explain to me how that applies to Twitter in this situation? Was Twitter compelled by someone in government to ban certain individuals? Is government influence or threats driving twitter's decisions? If the answer to either question is yes, there should be a freedom of speech suit brought against those responsible in the government.

If just stating anyone should be able to say whatever they want and wherever, I get that but there is no legal grounds to enforce that I don't believe.

The rest of that quote says the government should regulate hate speech. Baiting headline.

Germany has been struggling with this exact question. They know what happens when leaders manipulate the masses with propaganda. They also know what happens when free speech is stifled. There have been some good articles written about the philosophy of how best to prevent Nazi resurgence in Germany without hampering the rights of people to express their opinions.

Germany is also obsessed with privacy. Journalists will not even print suspect's last names when they are arrested. They also have very robust privacy protections when it comes to tech companies collecting data.

One of the other important things to note about Germany is that they do not have a common law system like we do. Almost everything is codified. Courts generally are not going to offer detailed interpretations of what they think the law means.

I do not support Trump and I agree that this Twitter ban is ridiculous. And it's going to accomplish the opposite of what the stated intent is.

I agree. If those accusing him of seditious acts really believe he is capable of that, they should think long and hard about their response. Further silencing and isolating him will just serve as a rallying cry. Those who believe the election was rigged, and had sympathy or even open support of those storming the capitol, should be listened to and spoken with as openly as possible. There has to be some proof of a legal election that can be provided to them in a way they would accept - if you can't provide that evidence than there is a problem. But trying to stifle their voices will have a negative result, and this is dangerous.

As an opposing argument, I guess Twitter might state that evidence was already provided and as long as Trump just insists it was rigged or fake then people will believe him due to his position and influence, and as such we need to help silence him. But I tend to feel it was the wrong response by Twitter.
