I see plenty of Yahoo articles suggesting Trump could be pardoned - mostly as yet another petty way of discrediting a man who has no charges against him.

But then again, God knows what the left will fabricate once he's out of office given how much they fabricated while he is in office.

Maggie Haberman article on the pardons. Per the article, Presidents can give preemptive pardons when you haven't been charged with anything yet.

However I think the key is admitting you did something wrong in the first place. Smells pretty stinky if true for the Trump kids and Giuliani.

The man was impeached based on a complete lie. After being investigated for 3 years over another lie. In both cases our nation's top law enforcement agency and counter-intelligence community were involved.

I hope it doesn't happen, but I certainly understand the reasons why it would.

The same people that did these things while he was President are preparing to throw everything possible at him in order to either bankrupt him out of existence or keep him so busy fending off litigation that he can't continue building his center right working class populist movement.

People in both political parties have a vested interest in making sure Trump is completely finished in politics and the only way that happens is even he also is finished in business.

Or maybe it insinuates he has a clear understanding of Dems who go after people with baseless accusations for years, ultimately bankrupting them, all in the name of revenge. There have been quite a few that have practically been destroyed. Look at Flynn. Par for the course for Democrats.

Trump can pardon whoever the hell he wants. Trump pardoning his kids or anyone else doesn't mean they are guilty of anything, it could be to protect them from crazy malicious prosecutors coming after them for any number of things (not saying that is likely to happen but it's possible). I won't fault Trump at all for pardoning himself and his kids and honestly I think that will be the new normal going forward for Presidents (as will this whole not conceding elections thing).

I'm not 100% sure a President can grant himself a pardon. I've read some articles that base this on the use of the word "grant," and based on the meaning of the use of the word at the time, it meant to convey something from one to another, not to yourself. I'm not sure I agree with that, but it's something to think about.

This doesn't have precedent. I imagine he would have to resign and then have Pence do the honors like in Nixon's case.

Definitely would not be helpful for his public image post presidency to do something so Nixon-like.
