Scrolling through the general news posts, and 80% of responses are left leaning or hard left, etc

There is a conservative and libertarian board but they are vastly outnumbered by the liberal ones.

I figured this would be a somewhat balanced demographic but I guess I was wrong; they seem to be for the most part a bunch of Cheeto-dust-finger-covered soyboys living in their parents basement.

I figured some would have real jobs and produce something, guess I was wrong.

Lots of international too. Conservatives have been run off the site.

Why is most of social media hard core leftist? Censorship and banning of conservative thoughts/opinions/facts.

If you are repeatedly censored and banned, why would you keep going back?

Internet forums tend to go the way of the political leanings of those that run them, no matter how much they want to think they are being "impartial". There will always be bias in how they moderate and those that get the short end tend to give up and find other places.

They censor and crackdown on conservative thought over there.

Reddit leans more left by censorship and design.

Ellen Pao's reign as CEO introduced a new approach to censorship on Reddit. Her actions have been continued even after her resignation.

Reddit was found to be a conservative influence during the 2016 election. They made sure that was neutralized before 2020.

They polarize, then one side purges the remaining minority other, and a sub becomes a fairly extreme echo chamber of confirmation bias because nobody wants to be the next person run off for questioning the groupthink.

Then the right wing polarized subs get nuked by management for being offensive because leftists will ceaselessly complain to mods and management in appeals to authority for retributive "justice".

They sound pretty misinformed, but I don't know that that is "disgusting". I'm talking about racist, anti-semitic, far right stuff. Not, says mean things about people on the other side. The reverse of those statements are said on here about leftists all the time with no issues.

That you can't, or won't, see that you're defending "something" here is pretty funny. That's not even a remotely objective characterization.

Reddit leans to the left because the site's owners and moderators put their fingers on the scale. That's it.

Yeah, I too agree. Pretty accurate statement.

Reddit is full of a bunch of 20-something white males that are ripe for influencing. Notice how they stroke themselves about how much more educated they are compared to rednecks/conservatives/republicans/Trump/etc but then whine about how they cannot repay their student loans and/or are suck unemployed or underemployed. They are great at patting themselves on the back for being Biden/Bernie bros but then want everybody else to pay for their inability to move up in their professional careers. They also continuously moan how they'll have to work until they die, because they'll never have real savings, retirement, etc. because the baby boomers took it all from them. Granted, there are bright liberals on the site, with good paying tech jobs in Cali, and they're doing fine, but mostly quiet on the topic. But, there is a very vocal progressive majority on that site that cannot seem to enjoy anything about anything in life.

PS - It'd be a fun TexAgs history tour to go back to when dermdoc said he was going to fire the Obama voters in his medical office and Reddit's hivemind found out and lost their s***. The same hivemind that would likely laugh and cheer at any SBOs firing Trumpsters.

Serious question --- do you notice how much the Trump hate permeates many apolitical subs? Basically was browsing in r/cruise yesterday and somebody made a comment, "Trump completely botched the COVID response, was so incompetent that he did nothing, and that's why we can't cruise right now".... upvoted like 30 times (yes, I'm paraphrasing the comment, but that was more or less what the message was).

I have to go deep into niche subs for commentary b/c most of the main and FP stuff is cancer.

They are most certainly racist, anti Christian, and far left. Just the polar opposite of what you consider disgusting on the right. This was even worse than what we see on here said about Liberals and it was unanimous. At least here there is some pushback.

There are more liberals on this board than anytime I can remember in the last 14 years I've been on here. I strongly disagree with moderators censoring political positions if they do so. I thought it was entertaining when we had a real live communist on here last week. Echo chambers are boring, the more diversity of thought the more fun it is.

I was agreeing with you in response to the poster you were responding to. I understood what you were saying. In their defense though, I have seen some moderation where they delete liberal posts that get a rise out of conservatives. I don't think they're running liberals off, but I don't like the moderation of content that is simply based on ideological differences. I'd prefer dumb ideas on either side to be discussed instead of supressed.
