Its pretty deeply on the left side. You can argue semantics but it would be tough to get through the Republican primary with that. He might be able to win as a moderate Democrat.

I like MM as an actor and I actually believe he's a good person based on several close friends that I know. That said, I think he'd be a horrible governor. First, he is not what I consider center right. 2nd, he would sway with the wind instead of committing to a stance in the hopes of getting everyone to like him. I think that's what got us in the mess we are in today. Politicians who care more about what everyone thinks of them instead of voting their conscience and letting the voters decide if they like it.

I'd put money on the fact that Hollywood asked him to run and said they'd make their response minimal because they think he has a shot here. They probably told him to play to conservatives and make an effort to prove that he isn't a Hollywood elite.

They know people win on name recognition (see Tubberville, Regan, Ventura, Arnold, Franken, etc etc.) It would be my plan if I was a Hollywood and media leftist. I'd be going after each state with someone the people know.
