Will it ever die? If not, why not? It needs to in the worst way.

Are you asking are we now a one party system because every election in the future will be rigged by the dems?

It already died. If mail in ballots don't go away we will be a one party system.

So a one party system is better??

That means socialism

No, more than two parties is what I'm getting at.

You'll be very happy to know that's what the dems are working towards.
No, I don't care what CNN or MSNBC said this time

The two party system is about to die.

When the Dems steal the GA senate races they'll have a majority in the senate with the VP voting for them.

Then they'll make Puerto Rico and DC new states, get rid of the filibuster, pass the green new deal, pack the courts, give big tech and the MSM more protections, and pass laws limiting free speech just to name a few things.

We will effectively be a one-party state at that point

Do you follow European politics? Forming a consensus government is a **** show and actually gives more power to the fringes. Why do you think they marched along to socialism do much faster?

The real issue is the primary system. Fix the primary system and it'd go a long way Towards more central candidates.

The worst way? That would be the Republican party splitting into two parties.

Not sure you get that the Democrat machine is alive and well. You really see more parties thriving? They are just sucked into the machine or destroyed. That's how it works. That's why there was only two real parties. And now they are merging into one.

I think we are in the process of re-alignment. Not sure what it will look like in the end though.

This is completely off the cuff but I would expect some sort of breakout like this:

Social Liberal/Fiscal Liberal - Progressive Party...Think Warren/Sanders

Social Conservative/Fiscal Liberal - Workers Party...Think Josh Hawley...probably the evolutionary end state of Trumpism

Social Conservative/Fiscal Conservative - Conservative Party...think Ted Cruz...probably the distillation of the currently GOP.

Social Liberals/Fiscal Conservatives - Don't exist...they are unicorns.

It's not great at all - but an equilibrium state that is difficult to get out of. Boxes in center left and right, especially in the last 2 elections.

It's here to stay because we're a republic which means we elect people to represent us. Our direct representation model requires winner take all legislative districts so third parties will never be viable.

Places with stable multiparty systems generally have a parliamentary system where each party put forward a slate of candidates and they get selected in proportion to their party's vote. In that scenario having a 25% ceiling will still get your party some representatives.

BINGO.

And the parties themselves are weak ass parties who have lost control of candidate vetting, prepping, etc.

The parties need to be stronger, more focused around founding principle and mission and then you will see the absolute BEST candidates put up for POTUS and all sorts of positions.

Voters have to demand this and push this in how they vote. STOP voting for the 47 year politicians or if you do keep voting for them, stop complaining that nothing ever changes.
