Can't have it blow up in orbit if you want to get 2x per month in.
It sounds to me like having them blow up on occasion is almost expected but they've far exceeded even what they hoped for. Not accounting for the first launch that was using already outdated designs and engines, they've demonstrated remarkable progress with all their variations till this last launch with no really out of the ordinary RUD's.

I think as long as the money is there to keep building and launching, we see nothing bus faster escalations of launch windows as long as they don't have more setbacks like this last launch.

I think it's more a question of regulatory approval and mishap investigation than money. You're not getting to a launch every two weeks if the FAA is constantly requiring you to explain why your next launch isn't going to result in a bunch of deorbiting debris. If they don't have setbacks, then yeah, but to the original point, if it blows up in orbit that cadence goes out the window.

Yeah, it isn't just figuring out what went wrong, but making the necessary fix to make sure it doesn't happen again in a craft that was otherwise already built and ready to fly. Once they stop blowing up during flight, the cadence should pick up rapidly.

One can't avoid a mishap investigation after a (legally defined) mishap before launching a similar vehicle again. I doubt they are spending that much money on the investigation, too, but probably being thorough.
Announcing/filing what they find too soon, as well, would open them up to more lawfare to stop the next flight.

From the proverbial outfield GA cheap seats our keyboards are located in, we collectively just want an answer as to exactly what they think, but there are interests (not just environmental wacko's, but competitors) that want to use every tidbit of data to slow/take down their momentum on starship.

SpaceX won't face a cash crunch for at least the next 4 years. The equity market for them is only beginning to be tapped. The cash flow burn-rate on Starship and Raptor is tremendous right now, and might increase through the next 12-18 months, but it's nothing that will threaten their operations.

If they were even remotely threatened they'd spin off starlink (or related defense operations), which they have sternly refused to even consider doing.

Truly, I can't make anything out of it.

I see it, I see what looks like a right angle along with topography changes.

But that unaltered image is A LOT different than the edited one which is enhanced. The one that is enhanced is making shapes out of shadows and topo changes. Filling in the minute blank spaces.

It is certainly interesting, regardless.

Picked up a Starlink Mini today. I'll mostly mount it to my Jeep roof for having live maps, emergency comms, and ability to touch base with the office from wherever we're jeeping, thereby extending my ability to stay out.

You mean wheelin'? I know, I know jeepin' and wheelin' is the same thing, but still.

Here is my '05 Wrangler Rubi. In the lake photo, you can see all our little jeeps in the bottom left of the photo. Mount Blanca in Colorado. Camped up near the high mountain lake.

Sorry off topic. We will see if mods don't like it. Lol

Fair. I'm going to the Brazos Valley in February/March and Moab, UT, in April. We'll see where the summer takes us.

The Starlink packaging included this sheet of otherwise useless paper. Seems like like something you either throw away, or frame and get signed later at meet and greets as a collectible to add value.

It's a representation of one.....on an otherwise useless piece of paper you'd throw away. Could be future value in preserving the paper stock, especially if inked figuratively by VIPs.

The concept of the orbit will endure.

Pretty cool finds from asteroid sample;
Quote:

On Sept. 24, 2023, the OSIRIS-REx sample return capsule touched down safely in the Utah desert at Dugway Proving Ground, bringing back the 120 grams of Bennu's soil and subsoil to waiting scientists. While 70% of the sample material remains untouched for future scientific study, recently published studies in the Nature and Nature Astronomy journals feature the analysis of the other 30% and explain that the samples contain building blocks necessary for life.

OSIRIS-REx samples provide insight into early Solar System

OSIRIS-REx was never designed to search for life, and the discoveries outlined in the paper do not prove extraterrestrial life. However, they do show that the early Solar System including the parent body from the outer Solar System that Bennu broke off from had plentiful organic "building blocks" that would allow life to develop.

Of the 20 amino acids in proteins made by life on Earth to form proteins, 14 have been found in the specimens taken from Bennu and studied. In addition, evidence of briny salt that can fuel chemical reactions needed for life was also noted in the samples, indicating the presence of water.
