Wow.I remember those places. They had them in the libraries too. I lived in those rooms.

We didn't have a lot of money, but my family came up with a computer for me in about 1996-97. But it wouldnt hook up to the internet so it was unfortunately pretty useless. Nice gesture thought. I may have worked on it for a few classes or papers but that was it.

I finally had regular internet access in either 2001 or 2002 well after I graduated and didn't have a cell til about 2004. But I got another computer for graduation in 2000 that really helped us out a lot. Used it until 2006 with Windows ME

We were advised in '01 that posting on TexAgs was a fireable offense for staff. Hence many having ambiguous usernames. I was only "Mr." for my first decade on here.

I miss vvn. He or she would just post graphs a lot and not even usually say anything about them. It was some of the best content here.

fossil was one of my favorites. He was a retired KC-135 nav and during a lengthy thread about the Cuban Missile Crisis Crisis he mentioned he was a young Lt at Walker AFB in Roswell, NM when it happened and his unit deployed to Homestead AFB. My dad was stationed at Walker at the time and I was a sophomore at Roswell High.

I mentioned that in the thread and then we started an PM friendship that lasted for many years. Miss him. RIP
