'The pendulum has swung so far, everyone is paralysed with fear by the idea anything you say could be misinterpreted and your career ended instantly. Also correct about a risky play when in recession circumstances that could still crash even more. In fact, if you are in Hollywood, because of sjw feminism -- just to go by YouTube reviews and anecdotal indications in spades, there is real risk of abolishing entire groups of fan interest and it not being replaced by new ones.

The big push to put various minorities into lead roles was to better reach those minorities who wanted to see people like themselves in their entertainment products. I get that. But isn't this true of any demographic that you care to name? And is it really smart business to push out 80-90% of your potential market based on wokedness? Yeah, the pendulum is swinging back alright, but it probably more resembles the one Poe wrote about than a Foucault.

To say the least.

Its a pity in a way, because some real experiments that might have good motive and effect are smeared by this.

For example, because of the wide cultural breadth and scope of the British Empire, the idea that they might consider Idris Elba as a James Bond figure was a provocative take. The directions the 007 wing of MI-6 would be recruiting from would be far and exotic. I had no objection to that kind of shuffle as there was nothing implausible and such a great actor.

That's a common misconception. Their goal isn't to make money. Their goal is to spread Marxist ideology and influence culture. China has its hands so far up everybody's ass in Hollywood, they are all getting paid by the CCP (along with non-state actors like Soros) regardless of how well their movies and TV shows do. Losing money from overly woke programming is not a concern for them. They don't care.
