Marxism, postmodernism, intersectionality, identity politics-all of that-has fomented hatred and divisiveness, all while wearing t-shirts that proclaim "unity."

This seemingly insignificant event, however, is a demonstration of true unity and sharing of history and culture.

We pass off moments like these as trivial, because it is people having a good time when real issues and injustices exist.

But this is peace. This is kindness and understanding.

Is this not preferable to what is currently going on?

Live together. Laugh together. Love together. See that we are more alike than we are different.

And then sit down and work things out together.

I see here a marvelous portrait of a diverse student body having fun under the shadow of the very object some today would attempt to use to divide us. White, black, brown. CT, non-reg. Fat, skinny. I would love to know how much of this was orchestrated, how much was spontaneous. (Anybody have the back story?) I cannot believe the student body is all that different nine years later.

Maybe if the athletes actually walked that direction, went to class, maybe ate in Sibisa, instead of being semi- prisoners where ever they live and not be a part of student body, things might be a little better.
