I am so tired of this. If he defends himself then it's obstruction. That's not justice. They don't even care about the phone call or the "whistleblower " anymore. Let's get him on obstruction for a non-crime.

And, challenged folks like Boom think that this is "defending the republic". It's shredding the rule of law and ripping the country further apart. Boom and his friends are more dangerous to this country than ISIS.

At least with Nixon there was an underlying crime that he was trying to cover up.

A purely partisan and politically motivated impeachment as an effort to alter a future election outcome is a terrible and divisive precedent and would seem a harbinger of worse to come.

It's weird how so many Republicans inside Trump's campaign organization get involved with running some kind of fraudulent grift.

That's what I was about to post.

A relatively standard house keeping procedure is "voter suppression."

Stop with the "extortion" nonsense. The statute sided does not apply at all.

What statute you using for bribery?

Just because no one has publicized they won a lunch/dinner with Trump doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I believe I have gotten a twitter or facebook ad from the Warren campaign about the same deal. Donate now and win a chance to have dinner with Warren.

Much like Mueller, Comey, Blasey Ford, this is why they didn't want the WB known - they all have Dem Swamp ties. And like the others this narrative will fall apart.

"obstruction of Congress" is not a violation of law.
Nor is not complying with an invalid subpoena. This was posted back on page 61.

LINK

Legal Opinion Letter stating that Schiff's refusal to allow agency counsel to be present renders his subpoenas unenforceable. Schiff is shooting himself in the foot, legally. Why he refuses to go to court over Bolton and is trying to get Kupperman to abide by whatever the outcome is in the case over Don McGhan's subpoena.

ETA: Relevant part:
Quote:

"You have asked whether HPSCI or the other committees involved in the impeachment inquiry may validly compel executive branch witnesses to appear at such depositions," the department wrote in a letter to White House counsel Pat Cipollone. "The HPSCI impeachment inquiry seeks information concerning presidential communications, internal executive branch deliberations, and diplomatic communications arising in connection with U.S. foreign relations with Ukraine.

"As a result, the depositions seek testimony from executive branch employees concerning matters potentially protected by executive privilege. Consistent with our prior advice, we conclude that the congressional committees participating in the impeachment investigation authorized by the resolution may not validly require executive branch witnesses to appear without the assistance of agency counsel in connection with such depositions."

House Democrats "could address this separation of powers problem by allowing agency counsel to assist the employee during the deposition. Should the committee not do so, however, a subpoena purporting to require a witness to appear without such assistance would be invalid and not subject to civil or criminal enforcement," Steven Engel, assistant attorney general with the DOJ's Office of Legal Counsel, stated in the letter.

And look at who is the person involved in the QPQ.

Long ago when I was in high school, my Dad told me if Democrats accuse someone else of doing something illegal or criminal it's likely they are actually commiting the crime themselves. Democrats play dirty and love to attack Republicans. They accuse the other side to hide and obscure their own crimes. They love to stuff ballot boxes and find votes. Democrats are often involved in corruption and you see this in the Democrat cities (before all the big cities where blue) and rarely are the caught and prosecuted unless there is a regime change or a glaring corruption case.

That advice and wisdom he imparted 20 years ago is still true today.

I can't believe some people are so blind as to believe everything the media and politicians spoon-feed the masses and never question anything.

Schiff in a letter to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the ranking member of the panel, late Wednesday outlined questions that will be used to weigh whether a witness's testimony would be germane.

For the low information voters here, that means that he only wants people that are bad for the president. This is a clown court and should be treated as such.

Basically, Schiff is signaling that Ciaramella (the original "whistle blower") is no longer a "relevant" witness and thus the minority will be blocked from issuing a subpoena.

Someone needs to pull up the pelosi quote from the floor where she said that republicans would have rights to call witnesses.

Republicans should just ignore this whole thing until (it wont ever happen) the House puts articles of impeachment up for a vote. Getting involved in this clown show only gives it credence that it doesn't deserve.

Trump should move forward with the business of the country and let the Democrats throw their fit in the corner.

Our founding fathers would be ashamed of what their efforts to deliver freedom to America have come to.

Voter suppression?

How do ya'll actually think that is a thing? Democrats have million dollar operation busing people, both alive and dead, to the voting booths.

Voter suppression. Adorable.

Republicans have a million dollar operation suppressing voter turnout.

Consider these numbers from the Republican controlled state of Georgia
Quote:

  • In the three months leading up to election day, more than 85,000 voters were purged from rolls under Kemp. During 2017 668,000 voters were purged, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
  • Of those 2017 numbers, investigative reporter Greg Palast told Salon, 200,000 people left the state, died or moved out their district, making them legitimate cancellations. However, through litigation, he got the entire purge list. "Of the 400,000 who supposedly moved, our experts will tell a court that 340,134 never moved wrongly purged," Palast told the Guardian, saying people had been purged for not voting in an election or two.
  • Furthermore from 2012 to 2016, 1.5 million voters were purged more than 10% of all voters from records, according to a 2018 report from the Brenna

Now that's adorable.
This is all based on lies.

Quote:

Is that what happened? Is Brian Kemp responsible for disenfranchising that many people?

Well, no. In his role as secretary of state, he applied state laws that, in fact, don't truly disenfranchise any eligible voter.

Many of the 1.5 million voters "purged" were removed from the voter registration lists because they moved or died. Many others were removed under the state's so-called "use it or lose it" law.

The law was passed by a Democratic legislature and signed by a Democratic governor. Under it, voters who have no contact with the electoral system for three years are mailed a notice and given 30 days to respond. If they don't respond and don't vote for two more general elections, they are purged from the rolls.

But even if purged, voters can reregister, including by using Georgia's online registration system. Again, it's important to note that this process is mandated by a state law created by Democrats. As the Washington Post's Aaron Blake notes, "A similar purge of the voter rolls in Ohio was upheld by the Supreme Court earlier this year."

That's just it. Nothing about this is official. The entire goal of the charade is optics to the average idiot on the streets.

It's not actually an impeachment , but we'll put the word "impeachment" in front of an official sounding word like "inquiry" so you morons will actually think Trump has been impeached.

Oh, and during this process, we'll kindly ask people to sit in front of us and answer questions. If you're part of our resistance? Then of course you'll come willingly and pass along 4th hand gossip you've heard about orange man being bad. But if you recognize this farce for what it is, we'll claim that your unwillingness to voluntarily attend our clownshow is proof of obstruction that Trump directed.

Oh. Trump is guilty of obstruction. Got him!!!!

What a joke.

Well said. I always try to give some benefit of the doubt at first glance. But Schiff is making that an exercise in futility. There are no reasonable doubts to be given, here. Purely driven by personal animus and nothing else.

Wait. You mean like when some judges in Virginia hired a liberal lawyer to redraw districts, which then in fact allowed the Dems in the state to win easier? That Gerrymandering? Could you tell me who that phrase was named after?

In the ongoing federal criminal trial of career Republican Party operative and Trump campaign member, longtime Trump associate Roger Stone is having a really bad day.

If it hasn't already done so, Trump's 2016 campaign organization is eventually going to set an all-time record for felony convictions for a US Potus candidate's campaign org.
