I don't believe it was a statewide alert.

They are currently using the term endangered missing person because the public awareness for the name CLEAR Alert just isn't there yet. DPS is using CLEAR Alert in tweets and other media in the meantime while they build brand awareness.

My only complaint on those signs is they don't stay on one bit of information long enough. Since first hearing about this whole issue I've made a point to be a little more aware of those signs, but never can process off the information they are saying.

Not sure why it can't say "call 911 silver Camry LP# XXXXXX"

Not sure why it matters if I'm driving and see the car if it's a different alert if you just want me to call 911. /rant off

Love this project though. Shame it was even needed in this world.

I'll pass the rant to the DPS alert coordinator next time I see him. A static sign may be better than alternating signs.

The freeway signs generally change and display too much information for me to absorb while keeping an eye on the road. When I was visiting Texas over the Christmas break, they were saying something about Baby Yoda and seat belts.

The city is less helpful, because they are driving and could be anywhere.

If someone is missing and you have it on a giant alert system, they are obviously in danger.

And missing person is in both messages.

Again, just providing feedback to help it be more effective.

I agree. We were there thinking that everyone was operating on a skeleton staff yesterday but I agree that the alternating signs likely makes them less effective.

I'll make sure we pass that along.

Update incase this forum gets locked down.

We were able to get our non-profit, Cayley's Calling, IRS certified before the Covid-19 shutdown and that allowed us to register with smile.amazon.com. Unfortunately our advocacy work has slowed considerably so I've been focused on branding work while we're shutdown.

There wasn't anything wrong with the thread or anyone's comments. I never intended to have it go on and on but figured we would keep it going through the weekend and early next week.

The Aggie community is great and f16 has some very strategic thinkers which is nice. We had some great feedback in the thread and in PMs that were very insightful which was my purpose in starting the thread.

There may be 6 degrees of freedom between any two people but with over 8000 page views we were starting to draw friends of key parties in the case and I was getting uncomfortable with how many eyes it was drawing.

I've been following this story ever since seeing the original thread. Glad to hear that justice is finally served. Dude deserved life in prison but at least it wasn't another mistrial.

Howerton was convicted in June and is serving his sentence at the Willacy County Unit near Brownsville (about as far from his family in Tyler as you can get.) His expected release date is in 2043.

I followed the trial closely and was so upset he only got manslaughter and not murder. I thought about PMing you, but I had no idea what to say, so I didn't.

He was convicted of Ag. Assalt, not manslaughter.

I don't understand society today. Urban juries will twist themselves in knots to avoid a murder verdict.

By convicting on Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon finding the jury concluded that he beat Cayley to death. But somewhere in their deliberations they concluded that despite the defensive wounds, and Cayley being covered head to toe in bruises, that there was no intent to cause serious bodily injury?!?!
