Not long ago, a bunch of people died from heat in one of these trucks. The driver will probably go to jail for their deaths

On another occasion, the police stopped the truck. The police chief turned all the "passengers" over to Catholic Charities because he wasn't concerned about immigration status and couldn't be bothered to wait in ICE. Chief says what Catholic Charities did with them is none of his concern.

This time the police showed up. FD made sure they weren't injured and fed them pizza while ICE hauled off the ones they were able to catch . Mayor Turdburg, City Manager Skeletor, and Police Chief Oblivious are silent on this event.

Truck driver cops a plea on exchange for evidence against the operation. No thanks to Cheif McManus. Good work, not.

Of the immigrants caught, six were treated at the hospital, 47 were taken into custody immediately and processed for deportation, The immigrants were from Brazil, Guatemala, El Salvador and Mexico, records show.
All going home.

Illegal was in the country illegally. Instead of forcibly deporting him ICE just told him needed to leave. Of course he didn't leave. A few weeks later he brutally murders his roommate.

Yet another bureacratic snafu.

It looks like the going rate for a 9-year-old boy is $2500.

American woman living in Piedras Negras used her own son's birth certificate to smuggle an unrelated boy across the border and was planning to sell him.

SAN ANTONIO A driver who sideswiped a San Antonio Police Department SUV Wednesday morning may have been smuggling a truck full of migrants, investigators say.

The collision happened just before 8 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Fischer Road.

An off-duty SAPD SWAT officer was traveling to work in a city-owned SUV when the driver of a pickup truck sideswiped him. The officer said he thought the driver was going to stop, but then he took off instead.

When the officer activated his lights and sirens, the driver pulled over. Police said that's when six to 10 people jumped out of the cab and from the bed of the truck and ran into a wooded area. Officers searched the woods but were not able to locate anyone.

Nirenberg and SA city counsel are smart in which they have never announced SA as a "sanctuary city" however, they are in everything except the title.

And as long as SA is just a "stopover" for illegals, they will continue to support them.

If they ran into a wooded area here it was probably infested with a homeless camp or 70 and the officer probably turned around and fled due to the mess and stench.

Toddler among those rescued in San Antonio human smuggling sting

Several Bexar County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicles line West Southcross Boulevard Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Nearly a dozen deputy vehicles lined a quiet suburban street on the Southwest Side of San Antonio after deputies began surveilling a home in the 1400 block of W. Southcross Blvd. Thursday. Bexar County Sherriff Javier Salazar said a sting operation was sparked after several complaints from neighbors, uncovering what investigators say was a human smuggling ring.

Deputies pulled over two vehicles seen leaving the Southcross Boulevard home Thursday after staking out the residence, and Salazar said law enforcement found evidence there was "at the very least human smuggling, possibly trafficking of persons going on out of this residence."

During a press conference outside the Southwest Side home Thursday evening, Salazar said three suspects were arrested in the home and eight victims were rescued. He said the three arrested will face some level of human smuggling charge

"At this point, we're happy that most of [the victims] appear to be in very good health," Salazar said, noting a few of the victims showed signs of mistreatment and were examined by emergency services. "The house is in pretty bad condition inside. It's pretty dirty inside. Typically, what we see in regard to operations like this, a lot of old discarded food where it looks like there's been groups of residents in and out of this home for some time."

The oldest of the victims was a 59-year-old man and the youngest was a 2-year-old baby, said Salazar. Three of the people recovered from the home will be arrested while the others will be released to a federal agency.

"It's not uncommon in situations like this for the coyote to dress just like the people we're considering victims, to claim injuries they know what injuries people are going to face on a trip like this. So, it's not uncommon for them to claim blisters on their feet for example from having walked a long distance or claim to have been mistreated. And many times, the people they're hiding amongst won't give them up for fear of the fact they know these people are part of a criminal organization," Salazar said, noting there may be additional arrests made as they weed out exactly who is a victim and who is a suspect during individual interviews at the sheriff's office.

They shared routes, guides, stash houses, trucks, trailers and transporters to consolidate costs, minimize risks, and maximize profit, officials said, and maintained a variety of tractors and trailers for smuggling operations, some of which were stored at a private parking lot in San Antonio.

Some of the defendants charged were aware the trailer's AC unit didn't work, and didn't blow cool air to the migrants inside the trailer, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. When members of the organization met the tractor-trailer at the end of its nearly three-hour journey to San Antonio, they opened the doors to find 48 migrants, including a pregnant woman, dead.

Sixteen people were transported to hospitals, and five more people died there.

In a noncompliance letter to the City of San Antonio, the Federal Emergency Management Administration on March 11 wrote, "DHS/FEMA is temporarily withholding payments to your organization… The DHS has significant concerns that Shelter and Services Program funding is going to entities engaged in or facilitating illegal activities."

The letter states that the department is concerned the entities receiving payment under the program may be "guilty of encouraging or inducing an immigrant to come to the United States."

FEMA ordered the city to send all documents associated with the migrants aided at the city's Migrant Resource Center within 30 days, "including their names and contact information; and a detailed and descriptive list of specific services provided."

FEMA still owes San Antonio reimbursements, including $9.1 million pending from COVID-19 response and nearly $6 million for Winter Storm URI. But those funds will not come to the city unless the government gets the migrant information it seeks.

According to the city, San Antonio has spent $35.9 million of the $47.2 million awarded by the federal government to aid migrants passing by San Antonio. To date, $22.5 million has been reimbursed by FEMA, and a total of $13.2 million is pending reimbursement.

FEMA is also demanding that San Antonio must also meet a special condition requiring it and the organizations receiving FEMA funds to sign affidavits saying they have no knowledge or suspicion that anyone in the organization is participating in a crime.

.

Catholic Charities of San Antonio received the same letter.

"At the Centro de Bienvenida MRC, we were able to help over 325,000 people," said Antonio Fernandez, CEO of Catholic Charities of San Antonio.

The nonprofit is still figuring out how to provide the requested information on so many clients.

Catholic Charities received $32 million annually to assist new refugees with necessities like food and rent, acculturation, English as a Second Language (ESL) education, workforce development, GEDs and access to health care and legal resources.

More than 10,000 refugees in San Antonio who were receiving some level of service from Catholic Charities will be affected by the freeze, Walsh said. That includes refugee families living in 19 local multi-family properties, which will no longer receive Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) funds.

"Of these 10,000 individuals, the most impacted are about 300 refugees that arrived in San Antonio recently and were in the process of getting settled," he said. "Effective this March, about 80 households will be without rental assistance from Catholic Charities. Most of the refugees are from Afghanistan, Syria, Congo, Venezuela, and Cuba."

Catholic Charities is neck deep in human smuggling. But they put a good spin on their involvement with "we are helping the victims and their children." It's always about the children!

But it is all about the $$$$ that NGOs get (got) from the Federal government.
