The answer is so easy.

Men play 5 sets women play 3 sets. So shouldn't men make more based on the amount of total entertainment they provide. Not to mention the fact that women's tennis hasn't had a true top 3 players since the williams sisters. Which kills their marketing value as marketing is star driven.
