Not sure you can correlate a problem between grocery products and overall health and longevity. Perhaps for certain diseases like Type II diabetes, but not for our overall health status.

My question was poorly stated.

Since people are living longer, wouldn't chronic disease be more likely, with or without grocery stores?

Dude,

100 years ago, they called TB "consumption", and the prescription if you caught it to keep from dying was to move to the desert and drink lots of whiskey.

Rich people suffered from diabetes and heart disease, but the majority of Americans were on the edge of starving. Food was 35% or more of a families budget.

The diseases were there.
