I looked into this story when it first came out. Basically, she bought $120 LEAPS on November 22, 2023. The price of NVIDIA on that day was $487.16. When you buy deep ITM (in the money) calls, you pay a high premium. The 12/20/24 $120 calls are selling for $676.75, or $67,675 per contract right now. Someone stepping in to make this move today would only be able to buy 73 contracts.

She's basically betting the price of NVIDIA won't collapse anytime soon, and buying a deep ITM call to collect a premium from any huge jumps in the price. If she had bought a ton of $700 LEAPs (current price is $785) when the current price was under $500 in November, that would have been eye-opening and a better example of insider trading.

Pelosi and her husband clearly engage in insider trading, but the December NVIDIA LEAP play isn't a good example.
