HELP!

I want something that is non-traditional for a wedding.

The future-wife and I are trying to put together a little something that is instructional and geared more towards letting people experience Church, because some of our family doesn't make it very often.

Nothing about how a woman was made from Adam's rib, yada, yada.

She is Lutheran, I am Catholic, we are getting married in her Church (Missouri-Synod).

THANKS for the help!

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Genesis 1:26-31
Genesis 2:18-24
Song of Solomon 8:6-7

From the deuterocanonical book of Tobit-

She stood up, and they began praying for protection, and this was how he began:

'You are blessed, O God of our fathers;
blessed, too is your name for ever and ever.
Let the heavens bless you
and all things you have made for evermore.

It was you who created Adam,
you who created Eve his wife to be his help and support;
and from these two the human race was born.
It was from you who said,
"It is not good that the man should be alone;
let us make him a helpmate like himself".
And so I do not take this wife of mine for any lustful motive;
I do it in singleness of heart,
Be kind enough to have pity on her and on me
and bring us to old age together.'

And together they said 'Amen, Amen', and lay down for the night.
(Tobit 8:5-9)

Ruth 1:16 But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me."

This is what Ruth said to her MIL but I think it could apply to wife to husband.

From Tobit:

I dont know the chapter and verse, but the one where Tobiah asks his wife to pray with him on their wedding night before they consummate the marriage.

My wife and I had Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (God being the third strand).

quote:
9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their work:

10 If one falls down,
his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!

11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?

12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

That would be Leviticus.

Mrs. Lovelights or setsmachine have one of the two that I would choose. No offense to anyone who did this, but 1 Cor 13 is overdone.

Proverbs 25:24

It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a contentious woman.
