Mrs. Lovelight , quote:
Actually, it was Redstone as usual who started the RC vs Protestant stuff. Go back and read. This thread was never meant to be for comparing churches only for how well you know the doctrine of your particular church. But REDSTONE had to go and make it a this vs that thing.
It seems (on this thread) that he is comparing some Some So.Baptists to how well they know (or abide) So.Baptist doctrine. While I’m not sure if that is on the topic (or a rabbit trail), I didn’t see any PvsC comments.
I have been quite outspoken on the subject of unity of the Church, - I don’t think it is “Christian” to bash other denominations. It serves no constructive purpose. I dislike it when I am in a RC gathering and the priest makes anti-protestant remarks. I think the whole Protestant movement is a “black-eye” to the Church, and I don’t mean that the the Christians who are Protestants were the primary problems. It’s about like a father handling teenagers’ complaints by saying, “it’s my way or the highway”. Those were dark times indeed. Because of the disunity and the very spirit of disunity, doctrine becomes questionable, because
the Body is not wholly present in discernment.
BTW, I am often a “protestant” within the RCC. I have written papers and church bullitin inserts pointing out scriptural based doctrine which is subtle (usually) denouncing of false doctrinal practices. If one is respectful and tactful one can be heard, otherwise it all falls on a deaf ear.
