Habakkuk 3 17-19
Though the fig tree does not bud
And there are no grapes on the vine,
Though the olive crop fails
And the fields produce no food,
Though there are no sheep in the sheepfold
And no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
The Sovereign Lord is my strength,
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
He enables me to tread on the heights.

My first 10 years after graduation I was self employed farming rice and row crops. I was living a dream I had since I was a child. My life was happy.

That dream ended in 1994. My joy turned into anger and sadness. Finding a new job and career path killed my soul. This reading spoke to me back then. It is just as important today as it was when I first read it.

Have a blessed day!

Love it! Contrast that change in perspective that the writer had from chapter 1:1-4

This book answers some of the greatest theological questions...

Are You not from everlasting,
O Lord, my God, my Holy One?
We will not die.
You, O Lord, have appointed them to judge;
And You, O Rock, have established them to correct.
13 Your eyes are too pure to approve evil,
And You can not look on wickedness with favor.
Why do You look with favor
On those who deal treacherously?
Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up
Those more righteous than they?

What does it take to be in this space with this mindset when a vicious death and future is on the doorsteps, food and security is lacking and one's heart continues to worship!

*my grandparents and great grandparents had rice farms in Cypress many moons ago. God bless you friend.
