I've enjoyed his talks. I do like him having a social media presence as a beacon of, 'Look guys demons are real'. Anything that gets people responding to the left hand of God and taking their own faith more seriously I'm a fan of.
But that being said, the most salacious and juicy clips are of him going, 'Demons lie constantly and we are not to interrogate demons. Now here is a list of things I've learned about the angelic realm from interrogating demons.' So it draws people in for the wrong reasons - desiring secret knowledge and the thrill of interacting with spirits. Its ironically all very Talmudic.
I think a year off will do him good. There's plenty of his material online to convince you demons are real and to get your butt back into church. He doesn't need to be constantly interviewing.
From an orthodox perspective, I don't think there is some equivalent of a specialist of a demon expert like you see here. Your priest does an exorcism, and if that doesn't work, then you go to visit a monastery to be exorcised by monks and priests there who have spent more time in prayer and fasting (like how Jesus said to get rid of the stubborn ones).
Is there an Orthodox rite of Exorcism, or does the priest just anoint and pray as he judges best?
I wouldn't say he just anoints and prays, but the orthodox priest would view someone being oppressed/possessed as experiencing the left hand of God. And the answer is to get them back into the hospital (church) and back on the right track of prayer, fasting, almsgiving, communion, confession, etc. And so the bread and butter is going to be recommending and performing those things. There are specific prayers the priest has for things like this they can pray over you. Holy water and oil as well.
The video below brings it up, but house blessings are a huge part of exorcising. Each family is to have their house blessed annually. The couple of exorcism stories our parish priest will share have the following underlying issues: family hasn't gone to church in a long long time, and or there is some event that has happened that opens up their house and family to demonic oppression.
I don't know what happens specifically on the decision tree beyond getting a parish priest involved but it usually involves talking to the bishop more and arranging for a monastic to assist or the afflicted go visit a monastery.
But if you ask an orthodox priest how many exorcisms he's done, he'll say one per each baptism he's ever performed. But people are usually wanting to know the details of a 'spiritual special forces operator' working on an exorcism through techne. Which is contrasted with to going and having the possessed spending more time around the holiest men you can find as well as shaping yourself into the most pious version of yourself as a priest as you perform liturgies, prayers, and sacraments to the afflicted.
