This may be long, hopefully not. I've debated sharing this with outsiders as it's concerned me and honestly scared the heck out of me. I've had trouble recently praying. My mind wanders and starts thinking about/imagining scenarios about what I am praying for instead of praying about it. In the last couple of months I've had a vision while praying.

In my thoughts, its Satan. The first time, it was an athletic looking male in a black suit. He was bald but was a fire blue color with smoke and flames appearing out of his collar. It scared me and as I prayed in Jesus name to take the sight of this away from me, the figure scream F*** You! in my face and disappeared.

The second time, the figure appeared but was a red color with red flames. Again I prayed that it be taken out of my thoughts and he disappeared behind a door and as I prayed, the figure constantly beat on the door screaming. These two instances happened over a two week span.

The third happened this week. Again same figure but a molten silver color. I asked that he be taken away from me and this time it just left down a long hallway.

Has anyone ever dealt with or heard of anything like this? It's seriously scared me every time. My wife is going through treatment for leukemia so our family has been going through it since the end of February so maybe whatever it is saw an opening to attack. I considered posting this from a sock account since I know folks that post but I figure it's best to be honest and open in a situation like this. Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Extra note, my family and I are active in a protestant church but I've never dealt with anything like this before.

I've never seen Demons like that when trying to pray; but I've been assaulted with the most ridiculously blasphemous and pornographic sights in my mind's eye while trying to pray before. Stuff so degenerate and beyond the pale it almost made me chuckle at how non-stealthy evil and sin can be at times.

With that being said, when my dad died from Pancreatic cancer at a fairly young age, I didn't start having visuals or anything, but my emotional and mental health was not in a great point, and I had to see a therapist which helped. LIfting weights (especially compound lifts) seemed to help as well.

Also, this is one of those "pascal's wagers" type thing, but go get a blessing from Catholic or Orthodox clergy. Ask them for some Holy Water, pray the Saint Michael prayer (https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/devotions/prayer-to-st-michael-the-archangel-371), really focus on avoiding sin, see if you can visit a Catholic Church that has perpetual adoration and just sit in front of the blessed sacrament.

Worse case scenario, you splash some water on your head, and say a few extra prayers; but it may really help.

You have been blessed by the left hand of God to receive such interactions.

Honestly, I would recommend you go visit a priest. I am orthodox so I'm going to say orthodox (am a former non denominational.) Catholic priest also works it seems, (theological differences aside).

**putting on a united ortho-catholic front**

The churches outside of orthodoxy and catholicism are ill prepared for direct demon interactions. And the further you go down evangelical slide the worst they are prepared. No set prayers, no fasting, no Christ in the cup eucharist, no exorcisms, no holy water, no relics, no confession. No monasteries where monks and nuns spend their days dealing with spiritual warfare.

These are all things demons can't stand. You need to break out the bigger guns here.

I would first go talk to the pastoral staff at the church you are involved with. Don't seek advice on an online forum.

I haven't had those visual experiences of the demons but can relate to the mind wandering to the darkest and most vile places during prayer. We are at war.

The forces of evil are either attacking or seeking an opportune time.

When the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him (Jesus) until an opportune time. Luke 4:13

The disciples struggled with prayer and focus. We are not on an island and Jesus didn't give up on them despite their failures.

39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will." 40 And He *came to the disciples and *found them sleeping, and *said to Peter, "So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? 41 Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

We are weak and don't know how to pray as we should...

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; Romans 8:26

Despite our inadequacies, the worse thing we can do is not pray. Prayer is us leaning in to the relationship with our strong, Creator. Keep casting your burdens upon Him because He cares for you deeply.

May His strength and presence be with you and your wife during these times.

First time, blue flame
Second time, red flame
Third time, temperature of molten tin

Buddy, every time you see him you are bringing the temperature of hell down. Keep the prayers up til hell freezes over.

Blanco, pray a rosary for 9 consecutive days, and if you want the visions to stop, they will.

Though I have never experienced visions, as others have testified, we can be attacked even when we are trying to pray. I usually "hear" a voice. It's not audible but it is certainly distracting. If this is indeed an attack by the enemy, then I think your situation offers a clue about what its motives are.

If I were in your shoes, and my wife was battling leukemia, I know I would be scared. No one wants to see those who we love the most suffer. And I also assume that it is a helpless feeling not being able to fight this battle for her. In my opinion, it is likely that fear that the devil wants to exploit especially since you say you have had trouble praying as of late. It's no real secret that the devil wants to separate you from God. One way to do that is to scare you bad enough that you quit praying completely. But you rightly called on the name of Jesus, and the devil fled.

Other than to persevere in prayer, my only practical bit of advice might be to change the way you are praying currently. One great design feature of the human being is that we cannot be both anxious and grateful at the same time. Once again, I can only assume that as a husband, you are anxiously praying for the health of your bride. So my advice is rather than only approaching God in supplication, approach Him only in adoration for a while. Take away the devil's weapon of fear by focusing on gratitude for the gifts God has given you including your marriage, the lives you have touched through your union, the work of God in your life and in your wife's life through this illness. I promise you, God knows the deepest desires of your heart even without you telling Him in prayer. So for the time being, fight the fear through gratitude and adoration.

One of my favorite prayers said in mass, (I'm Catholic) is called the Common Preface IV. You only hear it in daily mass, but I have meditated on it many times. The priest says the following:

" It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.

For, although you have no need of our praise,
yet our thanksgiving is itself your gift,
since our praises add nothing to your greatness,
but profit us for salvation,
through Christ our Lord.

And so, in company with the choirs of Angels,
we praise you, and with joy we proclaim:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts . . ."

In essence, our praise adds nothing to God's greatness any more than our sin can detract from His greatness. The fact that we can choose to praise God, even in our suffering, is His gift to us. I will pray for you and your wife. I pray God gives you the gift of Fortitude including perseverance and courage. And I praise Him for your example of loving your wife enough to come here seeking answers even though someone might recognize you. May God give you peace.

There are sacramentals, like a blessed crucifix, that can be used to "clear the air" so to speak.

One that has been used to bless rooms where evil has occurred or occurs is the cross of St. Benedict. It has many inscriptions of prayers directed at demons.

One should prepare the ground to worship and pray to God. Blessings can help do this along with other prepared texts. In the end, evil has no power over the goodness that is God. HTH

I will presume what you saw was real and demonic. Based on that assumption, do you believe God tried to stop this, but was unable? Certainly not. So then, what is God trying to teach you by allowing this? Search for that.

There are times in prayer when I have had disturbing thoughts. I have found simply calling the name "Jesus" continually brings peace to me. This is just something that has helped me immensely. God bless you and give you Peace. Praying for you and. your wife and family.
