Guys, sapper is accusing you of a phobia!!! Oooooo ahhhhhh!!!
Phobia means a strong aversion towards, not merely a fear. And yes, there's a lot of xenophobia and transphobia on this board and forum 16.
As someone with an actual phobia, I've not seen phobia on this board. Just because Christians feel homosexuality is a sin (for example) doesn't mean they are phobic of homosexuals. Those "phobias" are flippantly tossed around like the term OCD.
Again, phobia does not only mean fear. It can also refer to an intense hatred or aversion towards. And yeah, there's plenty of homophobia on this board.
Also, I do love how the immediate conversation shifts as soon as the basic fact that the vast majority of immigrants in Ireland are from the UK followed closely by Europeans from the EU is established.
Yes, I know that, and any true Christian would not feel hatred toward the homosexual person. Nor should they try to avoid them. Instead they should hate their sin and try to engage and point them toward Christ. It's the sin we hate and avoid, not the person.
To be honest, I skimmed this post and comments, not really interested in engaging in the original subject matter, but couldn't help myself in commenting about phobias. Probably wasn't appropriate upon further review.
I'm sure there are people out there who actually hate the person; but they aren't a true member of God's family in that case.
Sorry to derail the convo.
