I enjoy listening to these so I am sharing them here:
1.) Israelis will hit Iranian nuclear facilities;
2.) Erdogan of Turkey will die;
3.) Russia will invade/defeat Turkey )similarities to some Jewish prophecies;
5.) Greece will eventually take back much of Anatolia.

Orthodoxy teaches that the era of public and foundational biblical prophecy ended with John the Baptist.

We don't really do prophecies like the protestants do end times prophecy.

I think it's considered more of a gift of discernment and foresight. Basically just the gift of wisdom.

I don't think anything in there that has already occurred is terribly shocking.

I think half of the list is literally just an orthodox wish list. Which I'm not knocking. I had a little mini celebration the first time I thought the guy had a heart attack and died.

I am perfectly OK with the Russians in Greek overrunning Turkey.

So basically, I'm saying I have no problem with a single thing on that list and I still don't think it's a prophecy in the way that most people will interpret prophecy.

Some of his prophecies are very much in line with what you would call Protestant Evangelicals' eschatological wing predictions based on their reading of scripture.
But you celebrated when you thought Elder Paisios reposed???

Mostly, that's the reason I'm uncomfortable with these types of things because prophecy as Protestants understand it does not exist in the Orthodox Church. That's a closed chapter.

The man is universally canonized in the Orthodox Church, but that does not make him infallible or without sin or error etc.

You phrased the last question very weird though. "But/thought" is throwing me as to the meaning and underlying intention of your question.

Clarify and I'll be happy to discuss..

I would like to know, if you don't mind, if you are Orthodox or not so that I can best understand where you might be coming from.

Meh. My view is that end time prophecies made by orthodox monks, or even saints here, are looked at as mystical zoo exhibits by the evangelical west that loves this type of stuff.

I also don't think these count as prophecies like you see in the bible. As those prophecies are related to the coming Messiah and the Kingdom of God. So CrackerJack is correct that the age of prophets and thus the age of prophesying is closed because the Messiah has come. But there are clearly church preserved examples, modern even, of angels sharing with humans things of the future that turn out to be clearly true.

In orthodoxy these revelations change nothing about what you're supposed to do in your daily, weekly, and monthly life. Which is to work out your salvation with humility and repentance daily. Its just another tuesday.

Not Orthodox but have many friends who are, including one seminary grad (Boston area). I like the spirituality of monasticism as lived in Orthodoxy, but it is clear to me that all traditions have some residue of fraud within their structures. Just curious as to why anyone would celebrate the death of another unless a long or painful illness was involved.

For those that don't know, America gets wrecked by natural disasters and can't fight in the official start of WWIII. We cease to be a superpower. The fall of Erdogan is supposed to start some big events.

Thanks. I tend to trust Orthodox prophetic words a bit more these days due to the discipline of the church instead of profit-driven practices.

If Orthodox teaching is true and foundation biblical prophecy ended with John the Baptist, does Orthodoxy not consider Matthew 24 and Revelation prophecy or specifically foundational prophecy?

If foundational prophecy I question the distinction of foundational prophecy.


If America destroyed Iran's nuclear facilities and not Israel, does that mean the Orthodox prophet is a false prophet?

Everything in those prophecies is pro-Russian or Greek and anti-Turkish. And oddly obsessed with Istanbul. It reads like fan fiction.

Obviously the Church never falls so ya there's going to big Russian and Greek victories but there are huge losses everywhere. Interesting enough, even though America ceases to be a superpower they end up beating Russia in a big battle partly due to China's betrayal. The bad part is that it says there will be no one to celebrate since much of America is a graveyard. There are minor prophecies that say Russia is reduced to the greater Moscow area.

Honestly none of it is surprising to me. Russia suffered massive losses with the revolution so America going down is not a surprise. Anybody can see that even now.

What is it about the chosen that some object to? I know they create some back stories that aren't biblically supported like why Thomas may have doubted. But as far as my understanding of the gospel is it still carries the message. I'm not wanting to start a debate. Genuinely wanting to learn more.
