Proud of myself for sticking to it. Finished it off a bit early. I got an app that laid out the plan. How they combined the OT and NT readings was amazing. I'd catch myself in awe at how they flow so perfectly together. I'm one that can get caught up in the tougher parts of the OT. Reading it this way left me with one truth. I don't mean to be corny. The Bible really is one great big amazing I LOVE YOU from God.

I think for now my plan for next year is to try out a new "Chronological / Thematic" plan from TreasureInTheBible.com

Back when I commuted to work, would utilize the Daily Audio Bible (DAB).

I am a big fan of doing the chronological every few years.
Howdy, it is me!

Reading chronologically is my absolute favorite! I always love (and this applies no matter how you read it) reading the last line at the end of the year and then the next day, "In the beginning…" Every time I read it, I'm even more eager to read it again.

I've stuck to my plan so far this year, I'm doing The Bible Recap on the Youversion App, it's a chronological plan as well. The recaps were nice when reading the Old Testament because those books can be challenging.

I like the daily plan but not sure I can start it over on January 1st. I'll need something different.

I may try that out. Thanks.

Congrats McG! Glad I clicked on this thread, because I needed a good reminder to resume my reading.

I've read the entire Bible over the course of my life, but now more people around me lately have talked about their Bible-in-a- year journey and method. Chronological is what I've tried a few times the last 5 years or so, but like the OP I'll tend to get bogged down in the OT books leading up to Psalms/Proverbs.

My reading this year has been very NT-centered, but I've jumped back to reading a couple Psalms to start the morning (when I can). Kinda a "daily bread" thing. But hearing these different directed methods is pushing me to picking a strategy and sticking to it.

I'm doing the ascension press plan. I'm going to read 2 or 3 days so I have time at the end to do a deeper dive into certain books.

It's weird but it is what I did in school. I have to read something twice before I can learn it.

So true!
I'm excited to be where you are on 31 December (for the first time in my life, sorry to admit).

I'm letting Fr. Mike Schmitz do the heavy lifting this year and listening to his Bible in a Year podcast since Jan 1. He follows the Ascension Press' "Great Adventure" plan, which has been great for a year's worth of "aha" moments connecting the OT and NT; history, culture and tradition references; prophecies and fulfillment; etc.

I look forward to it every morning to start my day and Fr. Mike's commentary afterward is truly insightful and often uplifting. I plan to start it all over once the new year comes; this time following along in the hard copy and bringing my wife in tow (she's never done a full read-through).

Doing the same plan. I printed it out. Try to do 3 days at a time so I have time later to study a book I feel led to.

Central here in B/CS is going to do the bible in a year next year with both Sunday school lessons and sermons that match each week's readings.

I have read the bible through before, but I'm really looking forward to this.

I've done the Bible in 90 days twice now.

I might try being a bit of a slacker and do the year version next

Seriously though - congrats. Always good to be in the WORD each day.

Blessings to you. I am in my 3rd year and counting. Plan to continue until Jesus calls me home. I really love the One Year Chronological Bible from Tyndale in NLT. I can't say enough about reading the Bible chronologically. I read every day and have another translation that I read alongside. I've read NIV and ESV along with the Tyndale. I did a One Year Chrono in NIV from Thomas Nelson last year but prefer the Tyndale chronological layout better. I plan to stay with NLT in the future but will do NASB starting Jan 1 with it.

I also use the YouVersion app at times to stream the audio version as I read, since it has virtually any translation you want.
