Had an asthmatic attack and required blood transfusions, "not out of danger".

Please pray for the Holy Father

Prayers for intercession of St januarius.

Pretty cool knowing that some random blood donors in Rome, gave a pint of blood sometime this past week, probably not even imagining their simple donation would be used to help the Pope.

Praying for his soul. Praying that he's not suffering.

But also…

I am praying for his papacy to end and have been praying for it to end for a while.

And critically, praying this his successor is a faithful orthodox Pope that repairs much the destruction that Francis has caused.

I don't see the destruction as some say. Then again, truth is like a sword to some.

One of the most beautiful things that Catholicism has given me is that I no longer view death at the end of a long life, as something to be feared, provided you have tried to life according to the teachings of Christ and his church.

I hope the Holy Father passes, I think he is in pain and he is very old, and regardless of my thoughts on his papacy, I think he is at the core a compassionate and loving man.

I am fairly certain he will go to heaven, and with a billion people praying for him, his passage through purgatory will have to be easier than most.

When he passes, whenever that is, God grant that the next Pope be Robert Cardinal Sarah.

Not a Catholic but I think this is an important (and correct) comment. We cling to this life so deeply when the other side is "far better." It's okay to desire our departure!

Philippians 1:23
I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.

I saw your post and immediately thought of this:

It is God's will either way this goes. I may not agree with the pope on everything but I suspect he is ready and accepting of whatever that future is.

Thanks for that video. So true.

When you get to a place of complete trust and peace with the Lord, you are set free to live.

I think he's probably septic and his organs are shutting down as his body is overwhelmed

Yep. I used to be terrified of death. Now I have no fear and am almost looking forward to it.

To be with Christ forever sounds wonderful.

I also used to be terrified of Jesus returning and judgement, now I am looking forward to it. Complete change of mind or repentance.

Lol, opposition to a heretic pope will not be tolerated on the religion board! What a joke.

No, the issue was the wishing or assuming his damnation rather than praying for his repentance and the salvation of his soul. Salus Animarum Suprema Lex...

That's YOUR issue, not THE issue. Of course I pray for repentance, but I've also seen enough to know better and am free to make my assumptions without moderation, if my assumptions don't violate any rules, which they didn't. That's just downright censorship, not moderation, and what makes this a joke. Ut sementem feceras, ita metes, if we're trying to look linguistically clever.

The fruits of the Spirit are peace, joy, love, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self control.

I try to think of these before I post.

Update from this afternoon is he showing clinical improvement and they were able to wean the oxygen down more. He's getting out of bed, performing tasks, etc. They got him down on a Venturi mask for a while today which indicates to me he's been on very high flow o2. Next step is nasal cannula. Hopefully we will see that update in the next day or two.

Had not seen that site before. Thanks for sharing. A good explanation of the reason for the change in oxygenation delivery.

There's multiple steps and degrees depending on the kind of acute kidney injury and any underlying chronic kidney disease.

Please pray for the pope again, he had a bronchospams and aspirated vomit and had to mechanically respirated for a while.
AtticusMatlock

That update is not a good sign. While he pulled through the immediate issue, it sounds like he's on Bipap and is risking aspiration pneumonia on top of all the other things.

With someone in their elderly years these sorts of acute events tended to take more and more out of their stamina and eventually their reserves to fight through it give out.

Off Bipap, back on high flow. Reports today that he's looking better.
