I'm always amazed at how the January 6th insurrectionists are always, ALWAYS portrayed as innocent, naive little beans capable of no wrong or fault.
So does this mean it wasn't trump's fault since they went there with their own agenda? I can't keep it all straight.
Remind me who organized the rally and told them to march on the Capitol while promoting lies about a "stolen election"?
Can you repeat the quote Trump made about the protest march to the capitol?
He said, "Let's peacefully let our voices be heard". It was not an "Insurrection", it was a protest march. If some people got out of hand, that was not Trump's doing.
This is what frustrates me sometimes. We can still vote to maintain our conservative principles, whoever the nominee is, but to cherry pick the statements just so "the libs won't be right in their accusations', just seems nuts. Anyone who 1) looks at the entire context of his speech, which included things like "'If you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore'", 2) the statements of those convicted of crimes on Jan 6 where they stated they were only doing what they thought Trump wanted them to do and 3) Trump still claiming that it was a lovefest and he's going to pardon everyone convicted, has to see the enormous responsibility Trump had and how he could have tamped down all the vitriol by condemning the violence and the perpetrators and telling them "i never told you to be violent and ransack our capital".
If we have come to a place in our country where we don't care, or tacitly consent to the language and action of our elected politicians, just so we can take control back of the country... Then we can expect more of the same, and we shouldn't be surprised when a man who claims to support Christians, but acts contrary to Christian principles in so many ways, and the evidence was there all along. He has been turned into an idol by some....because people believe only he can save our country and are willing to look past all his character flaws and in fact try to justify them with scripture.
I hope this administration is successful. But if it is, I don't see us setting higher expectations of presidential nominees of good character, that hold justice, temperance, prudence and fortitude as virtues to live by.
