Hadn't clicked in here since I wasn't all that interested in something Al Mohler said. Come to find out we're talking about those squirrelly Calvinists again.

While I agree that at the end of the day, Calvinists like myself and Arminians like Doc should still rally around our gracious Lord and Savior as one day we will be in His presence together, TULIP does offer significant nuances into how we consider the character of God as Doc is pointing out.

It all boils down to whether or not you believe in God being completely sovereign over ALL. Arminians do not believe sovereignty over ALL. It is impossible to say otherwise if God is not sovereign over salvation. So therefore a traditional baptist or Arminian would essentially embrace the doctrine of God's limited sovereignty. That isn't the God I find in the Bible.

Regarding the original subject, I can consider myself one of those Christians with far less enthusiasm for Trump this go around. But it has more to do with general Trump fatigue than anything else. I'm completely on board with the decentralization of the federal government in most issues and leaving the states to handle. From that point, you better believe I want Texas to do everything in its power to overthrow the gross realities of abortion in any way. And at the same time be more charitable to helping families with adoption. I would call on other Christians in other states to act and vote accordingly in their own state environments.
Dear Non-Calvinists - What is it like to be in control of your own salvation?

Sincerely,
Myself - A former Southern Baptist who is now a Reformed Christian CREC member (you know - those Doug Wilson Christian Nationalists that JD Grear, Beth Moore, Russell Moore, and Matt Chandler warned you about!)

***** And our numbers are rapidly growing too. Reformed Doctrine, Catholic Liturgy, Psalm Singing, Weekly Eucharist, Male lead churches, Complementarian. Go here to find out more --- https://crechurches.org/

Did this on the other thread. Why does God ALLOWING us the freedom to choose to follow or not limit His sovereignty? If He it is His will that we choose, then His will isn't in any way diminished. In my opinion, you saying that He is not capable of allowing us to participate in salvation with Him is limiting what He is capable of. In what way am I "in control" of my salvation if all I'm doing is exercising the free will that He gave me?

No, Al. As an SBC faithful member, I know who's actually in danger. It's you, and your fear that a post-Trump Republican party will no longer be dominated by your decades of undue and overbearing influence. Allow me to say, good riddance. I am no more eager to see a post-Christian America than you are, but I won't miss the days of vapid evangelical leaders strong-arming their favorite political party under the guise of advancing the cause of Christ.

Man, posts like this drive me crazy.

I agree that Trump is in some danger of losing full throttled support from Christians.
You going to vote for Saul or Ahab? Easy vote.

Trump has no agenda...except power and money. He happened to find a niche group that if he said the right things they would support his first term.
Except that his presidency was going so well economically that they had to import a virus from China to prevent it from being the largest economic expansion since Clinton.

If Trump's agenda is the result of his policies from 2016 to just before COVID hit, sign me up for more of that agenda. As an example, minority unemployment was the lowest in history under Trump. How can that be bad? And, his agenda is well spelled out in Agenda 47. It's a very long and specific document.
Quote:

After losing 2020, he is now saying whatever it takes to get back in power, not because he believes with his heart and agrees with Christians. So now he's trying to garner more moderate votes by back pedaling on some things and being wishy washy.
Getting Roe v Wade overturned was a pretty good step in the right direction, policy wise.
Quote:

He hates unions but needs their votes,
He is more pro-worker than even the communists in DC.
Quote:

he did great by putting 3 conservative justices on the court who overturned R v W...but now he's backing off full on abortion bans.
I'm a conservative Christian, hate abortion, but don't want a federal abortion ban. My distrust of the federal government outweighs my disgust at people that want to murder their children. I don't want the feds to wade into this political water, at all. Least of which is that it will ensure that you are not elected.

The man lack integrity and as a Christian that concerns me greatly.
So, you would be in favor of a tactical nuke completely taking out DC? Because, there is no integrity to be found in DC.
Quote:

He is the only nominee for what we hope is a continued conservative agenda, but I do not trust that he can make it happen.
First term results pre-COVID are HARD to argue against.
Quote:

I won't be surprised if many Christians leave the Presidential box blank and just vote straight ticket the rest of the way.
Yeah. Keep dreaming. That's like Jews not voting against Hitler because the challenger doesn't wear a yamaka.
